Any of your EFers want your buddies to get a mint & clean superior blue hatch?

the only 5th gears that are swappable for your y1 are a1, j1, s1, and obviously y1. a usdm has no swappable components except 5th gear set and synchro. all of the other stuff is different diameter and size fork. so you can put an ls 5th gear set in a jadm b16 tranny but that is where it ends. there are no serviceable components that are swappable between the 2. you also have to be careful since all of it is discontinued/obsolete for the 90/91 trannys now...so what is on the shelf is all that is left. when it is gone there will be no more.</TD></TR></TABLE>

True that. I think i have an extra 90-91 LS 5th gear set laying around.

can you sell it to me
would speed up my process a lot faster rather then buying a whole A1 transmission

also if I want to fix a slight 3rd gear grind where would I get y1 sencrio, if still available??

Yea it can be tough to find the 5th gear set by itself, luckily LS trannys can be had for as little as 150$ (rough shape). When i get a spare chance i'll start counting teeth on all of my busted trannys and find them.

Gearspeed has the synchros u need.

You planning on doing the gear install?

I'm going to have a local guy do it all for me.
He is going to charge me like $180 or something around there for labor.
I have to get my own parts though.

who has experience with cracking open their tranny and having a look around? I have a spare tranny laying around waiting to go in but I want to open it up and inspect it. Possibly throw in an LSD.

Well i let it burn. i chose to get out and let it go. I was scared as hell. So it was totaled. i made my money back though. My insurance company was cool, and they gave me a good amount back and they let me keep everything that was still good.

experience james, experience.

you don't learn anything new by success, you fail and learn what you did wrong so you know how to do it better the next time.

honda trans are easy...just be careflu not to flip your synchro sleeve over on accident...that will screw you in a heartbeat. get a dseries 4speed boat anchor someone is giving away and practice taking it apart and reassembling it so you get comfortable.

THat sucks. I swapped my d16a6 out of my crx (was out for maybe 3 months) and it had the same problem. I guess a good rule of thumb is when it wont start or starts then dies look at the dissy

I got the t-belt on and the timing set, along with mounting the clutch and flywheel. Kyle stopped by to help me figure out the spring/throw-out bearing/lever assembly in the tranny. I can never remember how those go back together. I'm going to take a couple of pictures this time before I mount up the tranny

Yeah. For me it's the spring. The service manuals don't really show it assembled. A couple of good pics. and it will be easy next time. I had orderd the wrong TO the first time. It's a 92 LS case with a lsd ITR gear set, but I needed a 93 gsr TO because of the little arm that pushes on the TO. Cable ITR ftw

yea I had a problem with my buddy antony's K series tranny. When he bought it, it didnt have the arm, spring or to bearing inside, so I had no idea how it all went together. spent about 30 minutes playing with it to figure it out.
