Had a friend tweak my chip today, moved my vtec point from 5600-5800 cause that's where my power starts coming in. We advanced my timing slightly and increased my fuel percentage by .20%. He wanted to try out his new gopro so I did two pulls so he could use it. There is a really igh pitch buzz though in the audio, idk if that's the gopros fault or what.

p28 with a crome chip that my buddy tuned for me. I don't have data logging or anything so it's just a base map that we tweaked a little bit

It's the p30 basemap. I don't have anything to tune either man. My motor is all stock internals with bolt ons. It has just over 100k on it and seems to be extremely healthy. Soon i'll be running it on e85 once i can get some bigger injectors

Bigger injectors, bigger fuel lines, FPR and bigger pump, if not dual pumps. Ppl seem to be jumping all over the E85 wagon without really knowing what they are getting themselves into.

What do you think are the benefits of running E85 on your stock B16? Squeezing a little more power out of it?

I do see you are in Texas, I mean it does get cold sometimes, E85 is a whole new ball game in cold temperatures due to how thick it is. Most people who daily an E85 car and live in places where it does get cold, use a block heater to help with associated issues.

^you do not need bigger fuel lines or a bigger pump, depending on what your goals are. bigger injectors are usually necessary, however. And E85 does not "thicken". You are confusing it with diesel fuel. The problem with E85 in cold weather lies in its latent heat of vaporization. It simply does not want to vaporize at the same temperatures as pure gasoline (if you know the basics of combustion you know that liquid fuel does not combust, or explode... vapor does, mixed with oxygen of course). There are other considerations with regard to E85, and it's not for everyone, but I can't sit idly by while misinformation is spread.

While you don't need them, using larger supply lines and a bigger pump are far more efficient than not, esp since more E85 is needed to equal the same amount of energy as regular gas..

But you're right, all depends on what your goals are. Which is why I asked the expected usage for E85 on a stock motor.

Thicken is the easiest way I thought to explain it. Let's make it simple, it's a b-word to get the car starting when it's cold out!

Well, I use stock supply and return lines w/ 880cc injectors and it is common knowledge that they can support well over 500whp, so bigger lines really aren't necessary at all. And a stock pump will provide more than enough fuel for a mild N/A setup provided it is in good working condition. Anything over that and an upgraded pump would be recommended. I do agree with everything else you just said, however and question the need for E85 on a relatively stock engine, especially given the increased fuel consumption which is NOT made up for in cheaper pump prices.

Yea, I am on stock lines now with 1000s. But would really like to upgrade my lines and would recommend that to anyone else. I'm just lazy and AN fittings and line are expensive, LoL!

I guess I am a worrier! Even when I had a mildly built all motor setup with 310s I upgraded my pump for that added ease of knowing it was there.

Yea, how much is E85 now, I just filled up my DA last night and noticed 93 was about $4 a gallon! I remember race gas being that much, geez!

Sometimes it's tough making those decisions and no matter how much time you spend trying to make the correct one you can't predict the outcome. I ran my stock fuel pump all the way up to ~275whp on a stock LS with no problems (at least with the fuel system ) but now run a walbro 255. I am thinking about upgrading it soon though because some friends of mine have had to replace theirs like they're going out of style. One guy is on his 3rd pump in less than two years!

Having issues with Walbro pumps? I've heard of this but have not seen it first hand. I have a 255 high pressure pump in my car, my buddy has had his walbro 2500 high pressure in there for years, we are having good luck with them.

There are tons of better pumps out on the market now but the Walbro 255 is still one of the go to pumps out.
