A question for you technically minded guys regarding my XSi, if you don't mind...

If I reverse out of my driveway or a parking space and then select first gear to pull away, just after I start moving forwards I sometimes hear a faint clunk or knock which seems to come from my passenger side front, or the drivers side to you LHD guys.

The noise only occurs the once, and only if I've just come from reverse into a forward gear. If I stop at some traffic lights and then pull away as they turn green, it doesn't do it. As I'm driving along normally in traffic etc, I don't hear anything untoward.

Any idea as to what it might be? Possibly the passenger side drive shaft on it's way out?

I'd try to "wiggle test" everything you can get your hand on in there. Without actually seeing or hearing the problem first hand, my first thoughts are axle or caliper.

Yeah, I'll whip the passenger side wheel off tomorrow and have a look. I haven't touched the brakes since I've had the car, but I'll certainly look at the caliper.

I'm kinda thinking axle (drive shaft), but I hope it's something simple.

Thanks for the reply mate.

My Black XSi has done this too. Ended up being the lower control arm bolts. Had to torque them to specs. take note this happened after i installed my cusco lower tie bar.

although, now there's another noise . a chirping noise can be heard when i drive over dips on the road.. i think my revo tech upper control arm ball joint is worn. agggh. such a pain. i've checked everything and seems alright. :S.

here's a recent pic of my other project. she's comming along nicely. it's also for sale. i miss driving my other tegs. ..

Thanks very much for the input, do you know what the torque settings are for those bolts? If it's something that simple it would make my day. I've not installed any tie bars or anything, the only thing I've done over the last few hundred KMs is fit my coilovers...

Sorry to hear about your odd noise problems I've also got another noise and I was wondering what the heck it was, so I turned full left hand lock to have a look - part of my plastic engine side-cover-thing has somehow come adrift and is now hanging on just one slightly loose bolt. It's has been bouncing off and rubbing against my passeneger side drive shaft... it now has a perfectly ground-out semi-circle shape carved into it

So you've lost interest in Teg no.3 then? Are there any interesting Japanese market bits on it?

When I saw your DA I think it was under a cover or something, I forget what it looks like then, but I def like it now. I'm shooting for 400whp for my build. I have a build threat on TST I keep updated, I slack on every other forum.

Yea, just got word. Funny thing is, since Em and I are doing the whole destination wedding next year, she is having an early bachelorette party in AC the same weekend. LOL WTF!
