DA Integra's Only
Come on now it's not like that breaks the bank account. If you have access to a good machine shop why not? I always get mine done. Maybe that makes me a baller?
Matt, haters are always going to hate. I beat the crap out of my motors in the past and still do. I don't build them for granny driving on the street or I would leave them stock. I'm sure your the same way. First time I have ever read so many people more up in arms about a motor blowing while the actual owner is totally cool with it lol. It's bizarro world in here...
Ps: happy Easter fellow DA owners

So many people ? I think I'm the only one talkin about it. And I'm not that upset his motor blew up. I knew it was gonna happen. I'm just kidding around but sprinkling in some facts from my own personal experiences
I guess what I'm getting at is that its perfectly possible to make power on the street without cracking manifold blowing out engine rings or cracking blocks. Or maybe I just don't push the car as much as u? Who knows? It will spend about one day a week hitting 8-9000 rpm about 80 times in about 3 hours. But what is that compared to going down a track, waiting an hour, going again, breaking down and foing home?

Rings are also a finite part and wear out, nothing "blew out", it's only common sense to replace them now while everything is apart.
And cracked blocks happen to everyone pushing their setup, that's why people started the sleeving process......
Also you being on the highway and hitting mad Vtak isn't really 100% comparable to making passes at a track. But again, we get it, much like others you don't drag race and your car is puuuuuuuuuuuuurfect.
And correction, I still have the car, so I still push it, which is why it's down right now and I'm not upset about it. I've learned a lot from it and have been able to help others with some of the things we've seen from my car. Which is what this should all be about.
And from the items you've brought up I figured you would realize that tuning a simple "all motor" setup isn't as involved as tuning a turbo car. There are tons of settings and adjustments to make and since I've had access to the dyno I'm taking advantage of it while I can.
Sure I may be fine and not hit so many issues if I was content with swapping a stock motor into my car however I don't find that fun. I enjoy pushing the envelope and seeing how far I can go. But again if you knew more about the subject at hand, you would know that things like this happen but keeping on this subject is like beating a dead horse. You can only talk to those who want to listen.

People just like to make their e-peen bigger by trying to talk down or take shots at people, to each their own.
Like you said, I've been building **** to beat on and go faster, which we ALL know leads to issues and the weaker part breaking. Those of us who really love it, fix it and keep trucking.
I've had my DA for almost 9 years now! I don't see the sense in wasting money of a car I wouldn't be keeping.
Guys, has anyone used an Ls crank and rods in a GSR block?
I'm just looking for people that have had experience with it.
There a few minor things in the process that I'm curious about.
Bond, how are you going to route your dump tube?

Just tossing around ideas right now.
LoL, my buddy has an extra K20 long block he keeps pestering me to put in my car.
Still have to finish polishing the driver headlight, that's why it looks like that. I put the wheels on today to see how they look. Still waiting on parts to come in so it didn't get started yet. In a perfect world it would all be done this week and i would get to take it to the big yearly sonic meet this weekend even though it needs a paint job

if i had the money i would go k but not trying to spend that much but im planning now for my next build either k or h2b. and i sold the da to jj last month i think it was
Darn man, sucks you got rid of it, I thought you would just keep faking on it.
Maybe sometime next year I may put together another car, like a hatch with an H or K swap in it as another toy to put around in and maybe get into some road racing.

matt doing allmotor and road racing? this is unacceptable!!! that means your car would never break!as for the ls rods/pistons in a gsr block... one of my "friends" did it in one of his cars and said he really didn't notice much of a difference, but then again its hard to know what to believe from him. he's one of those who will tell you one thing today and something totally different tomorrow, but about the same topic at hand. not sure what all he changed to run it if anything
I kinda miss my all motor setup just because it was easier to beat on it all the time because it didn't cover as much ground as the current turbo setup, ie. I could beat on it on all roads, now I have to be on a stretch of highway with no cars up front.
Maybe not even road racing but just something like auto X, that's more local.
ahh ok i knew it was something andy. and matt road racing is like my dream lol i know its not much of a dream but id love to build a n/a road race setup. i watch the ff squad videos all the time lol
Just sign up for HPDE and go do time attack. I might try that out in a year or two. My tuner has a boosted DB1 and he just started getting into it. He's said he's already addicted.
I want to see more pics!
Did you ever get that wiring issue figured out?
i think road racing is the true spirit of our cars drag racing is ok but it has nothing on road racing just the fact of well balance vs nothing but hp no contest
Arg, come on, you sound like the others. It's funny how no one realizes how much suspension work it takes to really put down good times on the strip as well.
Anyone can sit in a car and go straight or take turns.......
The same 2 concepts apply to both, usable power and getting it to the ground.

As for the wiring issue, yeah I finally figured it out. I had pinned the signal wire for the IACV directly to some kind of ground or something that eventually makes its way to ground. That basically was holding the main relay open and pulling like 7v, leaving everything partially powered. When I switched it to the right location, problem solved! Only thing wrong with the car electrically at the moment is the driver's side window is stuck down. I was able to perform a free-air calibration on my LC-1 and connect to my ECU this weekend too. This coming weekend is going to be a big one if I want to tune in two weeks!
And as for pics, camera and cell phone are kapoot. I might try to sneak my work cam home and snap some shots. I have the whole front end together right now and it's looking pretty nice!
