At any rate, matt I hope you find a new block asap and get it back and running soon. Best of luck on the rebuild.

im kidding. it was a jest. he already mentioned that he sprayed it and boosted it for ~6 years. I think if he stayed all motor the whole time, there would be no crack though.

Matt i was selling an LS block for awhile. just sold it last week though.

Anybody have a stock DA intake arm that they don't want?

little update, i picked up an engine stand today for $43 and got my b16 on it. finally i wont have to suffer from back pain from being hunched over on the ground doing my wiring. im also concerned with my flywheel on the b16. i pulled the clutch and noticed the clutch disc left material on the flywheel. should i have the flywheel re-surfaced before putting it all back together?

also i got some of the holes filled in my bay and primed them. i have to do quite a bit more sanding to get it all smoothed out. i decided im not going to do the headlight harness wire tuck. im just going to re-route then lower in the bay under the trans and left motor mount to hide them a little better. reason being that i dont really trust my self with all of this wiring and i want to save myself the aggrivation of trouble shooting hundreds of wires.

i also found a new awsome oem parts site. its hondapartsunlimited.com . they had all of the firewall plugs i needed to get the bay painted with no paint going into the cabin. i also just ordered all of the plugs for the cowel cover and the cowel gasket. things seem to be going smoothly so far. crossing my fingers hoping that im not speaking too soon!

for the flywheel- I always have a nervous breakdown when making this decision. I know people have gotten away with not resurfacing it, but it would be terrible if it doesn't work out for you. from looking at your flywheel it looks like you could fix it with some fine grit sandpaper. But if it were me, I'd leave that to the professionals and drop it off at the machine shop.

honestly, i have never once gotten a flywheel re-surfaced. i've used new clutches and old clutches. never had any problems. if i feel they need cleaned up, i use some fine grit wet sand paper. just wet sand it and see how it looks. then if you feel its not clean enough or smooth enough, you can get it re-surfaced. either way, wet sanding it will show you exactly what you're working with once you get all the clutch off of it

ok i will try that tomorrow night. this motor sat in a wrecked car for 2 years before it was taken out and brought to my basement and then sat for 6 months till today when i pulled the clutch off to mount it to the stand. i will do all my work that needs to be done before the motor comes off of the stand and then take it from there.

i dont know of any good machine shops in my area. the one place i took my head to be re-surfaced is the same place my local dealer takes there stuff to and after i heard some horror stories i wish i had known of before i took my LS head there.

often the need to pay the 40-60 dollars is not needed.

unless the flywheel has hot spots(raises or dimples), is extremely scored, or has cracks in the surface, a resurface is pissing money down the drain.

like was stated, rough it up with some sand paper, to remove any glazing that might have occured to get a good break in and a good bite.

LoL, got a few blocks lined up, just price shopping now.
LoL, ANY motor or setup in the quest for power will bust, all motor or not........

Yup, no motor lasts forever, sorry I don't live in internet fantasy land lol!

If people actually saw/knew more HIGH HP all motor setups they would realize they too are susceptible to the same problems as any other setup.

I made 235whp with a block Honda made in their factory. All motor. As far as street cars go I think that's pretty good (< 12 second 1/4 mile). Got 30 Mpg and ran as reliably as the last tax that Honda sold.

I guess it could've broken if I over revved it?

Yea on a k(big difference)

You guys always try to turn this into some dick measuring competition yet no one who speaks us is pushing their setup like I am. I'm not saying it's the highest hp car in the world but still more power than expected for what it is.

I should post up all the run files and logs from this current setup, it has seen at least 100 pulls on the dyno messing with little things here and there, seeing what works and what doesn't and what yields the best power curve.

I guess what I'm getting at is that its perfectly possible to make power on the street without cracking manifold blowing out engine rings or cracking blocks. Or maybe I just don't push the car as much as u? Who knows? It will spend about one day a week hitting 8-9000 rpm about 80 times in about 3 hours. But what is that compared to going down a track, waiting an hour, going again, breaking down and foing home?

Eh. So its probably spent more time on the dyno then at the track? Mine was only on the dyno one time. So maybe your right, u pushed the car way harder then I pushed mine, on the dyno.
