Nope, not that small of a guy. When those weights were taken the car was 200lb less without me and all my gear in it. Oh, and that was probably 1/2-3/4 tank of gas. It's a track car, so yeah it's had a lot removed, but also some added weight from the roll bar and suspension bits. There's not too much more weight I can remove w/o being impractical for my situation. Just a carbon hood and JDM front bumper support really (and if I install a jdm bumper support I need to fab a sturdy mount for my tow hook). I've lost about 15lbs since those weights were taken, so that's also a step in the right direction! But I'm also planning on putting a very minimal stereo in the car so that'll add maybe 5-10lbs.

I need to find some time to strip my car down and remove the sound deadening too.
I used to say how much I couldn't live without a radio but lately I don't even put the face plate on. That sound is sooo much better than a radio!

I still have all my sound deadening in the car, I thought about taking it out, but it was a lot of work, and I think in some instances it might bump me into a different class. I originally thought I didn't want a radio either, ripped it all out. After driving it around town a little and mainly the 2-3hr drives to the race track wearing a single earbud listening to music on my phone it became apparent that the 5-10lbs was worth it in order to have something to listen to. It's really loud inside the car w/o the rear interior. My plan is to run a very small amp and 2 door speakers w/ my phone or iPod as the source unit. Should be very lightweight and nothing will be visible so it'll still look like there's no stereo.

^ Smart idea! Pretty good actually.

There is some spray (the name escapes me now) that basically acts just like dry ice. Spray on the deadening material, let sit and hit it with a hammer. It breaks into nice, easy to remove pieces. Only down side is it's a special order product and is close to $30 a can.

On a side note, about to grab a carbon fiber braile battery for $ 80. Buddy pulled it off one of the race cars at his shop and they don't need it.

Back in the day I always had a system in my car, ran through a handful of setups. Here's a snap of the first install in my DA, previous that I had only upgraded speakers and head unit. Circa '00:

Thanks. Practicality has always been a strong point with me. Later on I built another system for that car and it didn't raise the trunk at all, I was able to run the stock carpet and it looked stock in the rear, amps were mounted under the seats and there was a 10" IDQ10v2 in the trunk. Oh, and in both setups I retained the use of the spare tire.

colin that install looks great. heres mine so far. since i didnt have teh original carpet or floor to make a template off of he left the sides alone until we can find one. it will get finished up when we find someone with carpet we can borrow.

notice the little pull tab. underneath that panel is another floor with the amp and room for storage or another amp for the mid and highs.

You can use cardboard to make a template, really isn't that hard and may be better than waiting for a stock carpet to use. And you should do something cool with the battery if it's going to be back there.

Not the best pic since it was when the car was being stripped years after I built it and I was taking pics of stuff I was selling. But for one of my later audio installs I moved the battery to the trunk as well and fabbed a billet bracket to hold it down. The steel plate bolted to the car then the carpet went over the plate, battery went on top of the carpet and then the billet hold down went over the battery and was secured to the steel plate via aluminum rods which had bolts thread into the bottom of them. Those plastic battery boxes just look so cheap to me, especially sitting next to a custom finished box like you have.
