There is no such thing as rare when it comes to a B series engine. Who cares if your block, which is the exact same as a B16A, is stamped B17A1. Build the engine that is powerful and reliable and fits into what you plan on doing with the car. If both engines are going to be assembled correctly, either one is good. If either one is built improperly, it will blow.
If you want a car to drive on road trips to meets, make it something you can cruise in. Who cares how much power it has.
The head usually has little to do with it. "LSVTEC" and B20VTEC engines blow early because they usually:
1. Are using a factory stock bottom end and rev past 7,200 RPM
or
2. Were built by a person that didn't set the bearing clearances properly.
or
3. DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH OIL IN THE MOTHER****ER!

What's this fascination with revving stock b16s to 9500rpm anyway?? You revved to 9500 rpm!? Woopdee ****in' do. I hope you know that your power band ended 1000 rpms ago so you're effectively an idiot for taking it that high...
Have you seen the k20 challenge video? Did you see the k20 Jun built RSX? They where taking that $10,000+ motor to 9500 rpms effectively and properly. A stock b16 doesn't belong there because it's not making power there.. Waste of time..

okay so the sub is the JL 12w6v1 so its the version one a bit old. and a hifonics pluto VII i looked it up it it says its like 60watts 2 channel the guys is saying that its wayyyy underrated anyone have any personal experience with this? this thing is way too old for me to know about XD.

LMAO at reving the b16 that high...Although I do rev my car to around 9250 I have my shift light and i think limit is 9400...But im sure you guys will believe me when i say my car makes power there lol..and im not dumb or a bs kinda guy lol...
Got a micrometer today checked my clearences, must of been shitty plastigauge or to cold my std bearings came up right where I like them to be. motor is almost back together now
