Default oil burning ?

i have a 2000 civic SI turbo... bought it about six months ago.... TTR turbo kit, garret t-4, tial b.o.v, tial wastegate, custom manifold, custom intercooler, vortec FMU, stock internals, besides a lower compression Head gasket... 6psi, un tuned, engine has 33k on it...

just recently its been burning oil.. it was between shifts but now it seems to be steady when boosting.. not ridiculously but noticeable.. i have no idea how to fix or what to do about it.. or is it a problem if i don't fix it.. is it piston Rings going up or turbo or just a normal thing for turbo cars.. id say it looses 1 1/2 quarts every 1000 miles.

lemme kno ur insight ..thanks!

theres no leaks coming from the return line? because if it's not choking then your sels are prob. bad.

compression test or leak down test is your answer--from my exp....most likely piston rings!! ( I always wished it to be valve seals/ never was!!)

Sounds like piston rings if you are smoking a good bit. I live in Frederick, MD about 35 mins from you and i am a mechanic...could take a look at it for you if you wanted..just let me know

i would first pull the downpipe off and inspect the turbo for oil seal leakage.

that could cause constant smoking also........

Where is your valve cover breather going? Any smoke out of it.

has a lot to do with his smoking problem

anyway, like has been said...comp test and/or leak tests are your answer to this question.....also a quick look at IC pipes and downpipe will help too, could be a combination of both rings and turbo seals

unhook your downpipe and change pipes. look for oil there. could indicate turbo seals. if not do a comp check.

running around un tuned can easily take out your motor.

good luck

hey.. i just look at my valve breather.. its a tube that just runs outta the valve cover.. but .. theres oil residue on the end of the tube?.. normal.. or piston rings shot.. but no smoke comes out of it when my engines hot.. no saying it would

if there is actual oil residue in your breather and/or smoke coming out, it is a good sign of blow-by, meaning bad rings ussually

is there a PCV catchcan set up or anything on the engine to help release crankcase pressures?
