Default Worn out clutch? How much friction material is too little.

My sweet, sweet flywheel came in the mail today and I'm ancy to throw it on. I was going to pair it up with an exedy clutch I have.

But the clutch is used and I don't know for how long. What should the friction disc look like? The corners of the friction pads have crumbled off, I don't know how bad that is. As for the depth of the fricion material - it's as deep as the thickness of a dime (about 2mm). Should I replace it?

EDIT: pics

Crumbled corner example:

If some of the corners are doing that I would replace it.

puck style clutches usually have very thin material because it doesn't wear that fast.... the chips of the corners should be okay if you're running on low boost, but if it's going in a high hp car, I would replace it just to be safe.

Well, until I get my **** together, it's probably not going to see more than 250whp for the next year or so. Should I install it then?

EDIT: I just found the old classified thread where I bought the clutch. The guy had it listed as "low mileage - a little over 1,000 miles"

What's with that? Maybe he meant 4,000 1/4 mile runs

Bump for more input - I'm going to be installing this soon. If someone thinks I shouldn't, speak up or pay for my flywheel resurfacing

Well if you are unsure of re-installing it, just replace it.

I'de run it for what you are doing. The missing chunks are probably from mishandling IMO. If you have 2mm of friction material it will last a lot of miles before you hit rivits.

True i remember seeing my 6 puck clutch with very little material BRAND NEW....I don't think the pads wear it's the flywheel and pressure plate I think.....again just a thought and no real knowledge here.

That's what I was thinking. This came with a full swap I bought and pretty much everything looked like it was handled by Ace Ventura. Cracks and dents everywhere.

Thanks guys. I think I'll just install it. I would rather spend $25 down the road for a flywheel resurface than $400 now for a new clutch.
