ahh. i didnt realize it wasnt i just went by the what the seller said. i just remember the hx40 on the d series with .48 housing milled out i would imagin it would have honorable turbulence in the turbine housing. and lead to compressor surge.

are you guys buying these turbos from ebay, and then getting them rebuilt? Because the only ones I saw on ebay were used off of diesel trucks and had some crazy ar's. For example buying something like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1 and just cleaning it up and maybe sending it out to get a rebuild? Is that what everybody here is doing, or are you guys getting them new?

ebay is the easiest way to find one of these...but i found mine callin diesel shops....the hyXX has a 9cm housing...and the the hx series have 12,16,18,21 cm housing...12cm was almost perfect for me spool wise..

how much bigger, size wise, is the hx compared to the hy? would it be possible to do an AC setup with a HY?

not really any difference at all....the big kicker about the hy is the 90 degree outlet...esp since youll need the compressor on the passenger side to even remotely think of keeping a/c...and have a dp...the hx has the sriaght outlet w/ even a vband clamp on it that you can source a 90 degree bend and angle any direction you want....but i just found it easier to put a hump coupling over the vband and use that to connect to my 2.5" charge piping...and sorry ive been so forgetful ill try and get those pics out to ya asap

good for him maching a housing...clever idea...but the kid is stupid imho a hx40 will outflow any friggin dseries all day long...so why the need...he'd be much better off w/ a properly sized turbo instead tryin to gain props for having an insanely large turbo

p/s woop de doo...if you built a real car...youd be much better off w/o it trust me

and a/c...to what sacrifice a real dp...look at the friggin cheater cut...and this kid wonders why his turbo is surging...you have no dam exh flow!

and not to mention good luck keep in that exh sealed...he's got what all of 2mm of sealing surface...hello exh leaks > greater underhood temps > less power & contaimanated intake charge...sweet dude

credit for spoolin a hx40
credit for picking the absolute wrong turbo and running it way below where it should be so i can say my turbo is bigger than yous
