Did you all forget about me? Or did Holset Corporate get pissy about sharing the HX40 maps?

Please send them to

does anyone know what size the oil feed on an hy35w is? 1/4 npt is to big and 1/8 npt is to small.

It's not npt, I can tell you that much. I actually got a fitting from a local turbo shop. They found it on another holset that they had lying aroung, they just gave the fitting to me. ^_- I went to a hose shop to get a fitting and they couldnt find anything that fit it. You might wanna shoot holset an email, they could probably tell you. Or try http://www.fast-turbo.com I think they know what thread and pitch the feed fitting is.

Off the top of my head I'd say H1C from the turbine housing, if I'm wrong I'm sure I'll b corrected.

Hurm, time to compare those maps then. I might be able to pick it up for like 100bucks... so I just need to see if its worth it.

I'm also thinking H1C because of the turbine.. but that cold side has an anti-surge... for some reason I can't seem to find pics of H1Cs with them, just ones without.

Sounds like old fatass' ITR head, rhd.

Yup, those look like flow figures for pretty well worked Honduh B-series heads. Which make more power NA than your stock Mitsufeces heads make under boost. *gasp*

Now, I like 4G63 a lot, watched Jeff boost #366/2000 to 30-something psi (I dunno, boost gauge needle hits a stop peg on or about the ~32 psi mark) on a stock 160K mile bottom end, for the last 10K miles. Let me qualify that by saying everything bolted on or around the 4G63 is junk, but I like the engine itself bunches and bunches. However, this does not change the fact that flowbench numbers have zero to do with flow quality.

Keep in mind H22 heads flow about like your 4G63 does, stock out of the box, but still manage to make **** poor power hp/psi compared against their smaller displacement B-series. This illustrates my point perfectly.

You play actual airflow cfm off against as close to peak port velocity as you can get across a useable rpm band for best power... notice I'm still not addressing the complex subject of flow quality... plus the mad ninja headache of proper cam design, combustion chamber design, overcoming the inexorable logistics of the tuenarboi process, etc etc ad nauseam. The 4G63 falls short, trades reliability for power production and acual flow through the head. I mean, Speed Phreak made 340 whp at 12 psi on P1's Mustang dyno off of an HX 35 and unported '91 small port LS head - not even an OMG WTF MAD JDM VTEC head, inarguably the least of the B-series heads. What do DSMs do at 12 psi? 200 whp? Pfft.

Not that hp per psi means ****, except to ****** Honduh riceboys, but you want to argue it. It's all about brute force induction of air mass, and dealing with it. Which bone stock 4G63 does admirably, but you want to play Honduhboy OMG HP PER LITER PER PSI idiocity, which I want to smack enough of these HT kiddies over already. You sound just like my best friend, another DSMtard like you. You two would probably fall in love and decide you were gay, if you met.

So, where did the lot of you get the idea to run diesel turbos on four cylinder jap crap, anyway? Craziest thing Joey's ever heard... </TD></TR></TABLE>

so unfortunate that my signature won't hold that entire rant. J. Davis for president

Remember that was just a guess. That turbine housing (damn thing is huge!) is what makes me think it's an H1C.

Oh, yeah and J. Davis, why dont you write a book man?? ****, I would buy it! Can I get a signed copy with like a love letter to me on the inside cover??

I lost with only 43% of the vote. If you sift the thread you'll notice that, while I was the clear favorite, my running mate hotrex is universally loathed. Apparently nobody thought I wore the pants in that little combo

Sounds like you need a good running mate, count me in. We would b the perfect combo. You the "hardcore backyard redneck" and me the "radically offensive yet politically correct ******", sounds like a match made in heaven.

You'd have to meet Dave, he's a freak. Good guy, but a neurotic car nut. He has the exact same love Mitsu hate Honduh syndrome and won't calm down about the subject.

I have a GT3561S turbo now, and you all know this is a very efficient turbo,
but as an experiment building a splitpulse/twinscroll manifold and trying a holset would be fun.

What do you guys think ?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Per the Holset map for the HX35, looks like it flows 0.38 kg/sec... roughly 50 lb/min. Would be cool to try out the combination in place of the GT3561S... maybe compare it to the K29 you said you tried before the 3561 for test fitting.

Side note: Always loved your car, have any videos?

I just bought a holset off an 03 H.O. dodge cummins..the dude said he made 420whp on his diesel with it.
I didn't want to have to switch to the bullseye housing, so I chose this over the hx40. How do you guys think it will perform?

I don't even have it yet, otherwise I would throw up a couple pics.. I don't know what model it is either..I suspected it might be the he351cw, but it doesn't have the wastegate control soleniod, so I don't know. I think the normal (cali, non H.O.)turbo for that year is the hy35, but I don't think the hy35 can't put down over 400 whp on a that diesel. I think the new dodge cummins diesels have the he451cw, but I'm not sure, they're hp rating isn't much higher than the 03 H.O., is it?
