Got caught up doing projects around the house the last few days. Should have them done in a little bit. my desktop is literally full of photos lol.
The ones with the complete ve turbo sitting between the motor and core support are hilarious. Lookslike somethingout of a comic book it's so big in relation to the engine bay. Also shows just how tight of a squeeze it is and just how little room I have to work with.

This day just keeps getting better.
Finally sit down at my desktop to upload the photos and go figure the cable and internet is down. Call Charter and they tell me it's a service outage and they don't know when it will be back up. Awesome.
Luckily the DVR still works and I've got the complete series of True Blood, House, Justified, Rescue Me, Sons of Anarchy, and tons more movies on my desktop to keep me entertained until the cable works. Sitting in silence would drive me nuts. Probably just keep unpacking and organizing the garage.
I can't upload from my phone because the PhotoBucket app can't pull up my gallery and LTE service is spotty because I live on a lake. Might try another place to host them, my PhotoBucket account is huge anyways lol. My phone I'd supposed to automatically upload photos to Google Drive so I'll try to see if I can link from there.

Hey guys, over the last few months I have been putting together a turbo kit for my b18c1. I'm sure it was covered somewhere in here, but what manifolds is everyone using? I have been looking into only top mount manifold to make things easier, is anyone running a bottom mount?
Setup so far includes:
680cc injectors
Aem 320lph pump
7 blade hx35
Cx racing intercooler kit
Chipped p28 going to be chrome tuned
Gsr trans with ls 5th and lsd
Vband fabbed downpipe
Planning on around 15psi

what kind of fuel are you using? your injectors are definitely the limiting factor. do you have arp head studs? what is your power goal?
my setup below, still to be tuned. going for as much boost as possible on 92 octane, also thinking getting a tune with e85.
Engine is a stock block with chromoly rings, arp head and rod bolts. Going to be running pump gas, I heavily considered running e85, but decided to hold off for now.
of course people are running lower mounts, like ramhorns (me) and short rams, etc. Seems like ramhorns and topmounts are the most efficient, so take your pic.

Finally remembered about the photos I took of the he351ve on my SVT focus. The photos are comical really, it's such a tight engine bay that I could never get this thing to physically sit in the engine bay unless I got super creative.
Basically there's 6-9 inches of room between the motor and radiator fans depending on where you measure. So basically if the turbo touches or goes over the core support it's too large as the fans stick about 2-2.5 inches past the core support. If I removed ac (which I might with the built dry sump motor) I could move the radiator forward about 2 inches and run pusher fans but even then it's questionable.
What sucks is this would be the perfect platform to see what the vgt turbine could do. Long stroke 2 liter motor. 10.2:1 static compression motor, big valve cylinder head that flows equal to or better than a vtec b head, aggressive factory cams (think b vtec "stage 2" cams), intake cam vtc, variable runner length intake manifold, close ratio Getrag 6spd, etc.

As you can see it would be virtually impossible to get this thing to fit. I have photos showing what compressor covers fit between the block and fans (i have quite a large collection) and I have photos showing how other people have run small and large turbo setups on the SVT platform to give you an idea of what it takes. I'll post these later when I have a break at work.
For the moment I'm considering running my Forced Performance TD06SL2-20G on a PumaSpeed RS tubular gt28 manifold or using a Forced Performance evo 9 71HTA twin scroll turbo and building a manifold for it. The displacement plus cylinder head efficiency combined with a fairly low 7500rpm redline would make the twin scroll 71HTA a killer responsive street turbo with a massive torque curve, the 20G could do something similar with slightly slower response and a tad more boost pressure.
The 20G is good for around 450 while the 71HTA is a 51lbmin turbo. Both would work for my goals of 350 on the stock motor and 450 on the built motor. Granted the HTA gives me more wiggle room.
There's only one company that makes a kit for this car and they are awfully proud of it. To give you an idea a basic t3 external wastegate mini ram is 1000 and even more if you want a different flange. The next manifold up is 1400! And the quality sucks. Welds are hot and under cut, no bead uniformity, poor penetration, no backpurging, weld els have no surface prep or anything. Or you can buy a spa cast manifold.
Honestly though for the displacement, redline, and gearing anything but the smallest of t3 flanged turbos would be horribly laggy, hence my choice of a small twin scroll or t25 based turbo. Anyways those are the photos. When I get a break I'll post the others

Even if the core support were removable it wouldn't matter, the radiator and fans sit further in than the core support. And there's no way I'm going to start hacking up a car that's 1 of 1940 lol.
Recently got this on my ep3.
Stock k20a2 type r engine
Hx40 with 14cm housing
Homebuilt twinscroll manifold and twin 44mm gates
Made 300whp on very low boost due to only running stock clutch at the moment, but its still awesome fun!! Full boost by 5k then vtec at 5800

Turbo gurus! I need some help! I've got a fully built Ls minus sleeves spooling up an h1c. 24psi. I didn't have it long home after the Dyno session when she quit boosting. Blew the turbo right up, fins touched compressor housing. Got a new h1c and played around with it for a couple weeks and it's already got a decent amount of shaft play. I've got about 75psi oil pressure, -10 drain. Am I over speeding it? You'd think if the drain was too small it would just blow the seals not the bearings. There is definitely oil flowing through the feed line... I don't know if it's too late for the turbo or not. But if I get another turbo this spring and retune I don't wanna pop thousands of dollars in turbos.
