Default The Fight for Traction...

Hey, im looking for some advice on getting traction. I currently am running falken azenis 205/50R15 on my stock Si wheels, which are pretty decent tires as well as an Eibach pro kit and KYB AGX Adjustable struts/shocks. First gear @ 8 lbs of boost is worthless, and i wheel hop or spin all the way through second. 3rd gear is fine @ both 8 and 12 lbs of boost. I dont even bother bumping up the boost though lower than 3rd gear cuz i cant even hit it @ 8 lbs. Im not sure what i can do, if there even is anything i can do, to get traction. Someone i work with was telling me taller gears, but im not sure. Anyone in my situation and do anything about it? or can i only race from a 50 roll...

Here are a few options.

LSD
Motor Mounts or Inserts
Traction Bars
Gear/Speed dependent boost controler.
Your "right" foot

All will help with your tractions issues. Obviously the last option would be the cheapest.

Race from a roll on the street and Get some slicks for the track.

I believe my friend runs traction bars and they knocked a few tenths off his 60ft.

I personally will be getting the FR Traction bars. Better 60fts, and more room in my engine bay.

ahhh, god damit... I was planning on using my Si rims with the same tires

I have inserts right now but I was thinking of just getting new motor mounts. I wonder how much of a difference that makes for traction? not trying to thread jack or anything...

225/50/15 BFG G-Force Drag Radials are absolutely bar-none the best investment I have made in my setup. When you don't spin in the top of every gear, you wouldn't believe how much faster you can be...

Camber settings are also important imo. If youre low with with 2-3 degrees of negative camber you wont get the full contact patch of the tire on acceleration.

I would say Motor Mounts and BFG drag radial help out majorly! I have the Hasports in my 2000 GSR-T with 205/50r15 radials and no more wheel hop! and as for spinning I spin in 1st but feather the gas until traction and then 2nd gear grabs with no spinning. Before those two, I'd spin all through 1st, 2nd, and halfway through 3rd. Also, tractions bars would be an awesome and great investment!
