i have an ek with 320hp and i cant get my first or second gear to grip, is there a good tire that will hook without having to go 235/60/15. i have traction bar and my tires are 205/50/15 bf drag radials. thanks h-t.

Re: traction
one of your only options would be to get a good fuel management or good boost controller that allows you to boost per gear or boost per mph.. That way you can limit the boost out of the hole and then step it up in a higher gear..
Why would you wanna hammer 1st and 2nd without slicks on anyways... doin some street racing are ya?

Re: traction
My 400hp DC2 hooked 2nd gear on running MT 205/50/15 drag radials, full race traction bars, ITR LSD, and stock mounts. I had a pair of 205/50/15 BFG drag radials before and the car wouldn't hook until 3rd gear.

Re: traction
Keep saying this, haven’t you guys herd of Race Logic traction control, google it and see what peole have to say.
http://www.racelogic.co.uk/?show=Traction_Control
It’s perfect for road use, totally programmable unlike factory systems. You can even put down power in the wet if programmed properly.
This saves tyres, equally it will perform better with good tyres, if you go to the track, switch it off, simple, not invasive but will modulate the power instead of working the right foot.
I tried boost by gear soft compound tyres that last no time on the street.

Re: traction
the answer is simple feather the throttle, lift a little, there is no rule that says you must be WOT the entire time. i have 510 whp in a EG on 205 40 16s and i do just fine on the street.

Re: traction
Good point craig..Even at the track for me last year, 1st and 2nd gear never was full throttle really, was feathering the gas trying to get it to hook..
