Yeah it’s nice to get back out and get it figured out. Slowing down is so much nicer with the parachute once you get one on your car you will love it.

it should but my buddy wasn’t using one with this turbo. So with the amount of oil pumping threw I may throw one on. I’m planning on using this turbo a little more and will be most likely moving on to a precision 7285.
The car looks and drives amazing. It looks like you've put lots of effort, work, money, testing, and time into it.
What I'm wondering: is this in the SPFWD classification, or just a car built for fun. It almost looks like the Outlaw class of cars. Here's why: I thought SPFWD had to have exhaust exit the rear of the vehicle, not out the hood. And, the turbo can't have the compressor face outside the front bumper. But Outlaw cars are allowed to have that (as far as I know).
I like the exhaust manifold you have- it looks like it says Full-Race (brand) and seems awesome to me. I'm not sure if those are allowed in SPFWD, with the exhaust exiting the hood, but maybe they are. If so, that would be cool!
On the video, it looks like your first gear is giving you a long time to put down power, which is good. But then, to switch to 2nd gear takes a little bit of time; then, 2nd gear seems short, like 2nd gear is hardly used. I don't know if having a longer 2nd gear would help, perhaps. Third gear seems good. Fourth gear seems very fast and powerful. It's going fast in 4th gear, but if you can hold onto the steering wheel until after the 1/4 mile trap, then switch your arm to pull the parachute, it might help….

You can run a forward facing manifold in any class but turbo size is what puts you in different classes. FWD you have to have a 72mm turbo size limit and a 25 inch tall slick max. I run a 72mm and a 24.5mm slick so I am good to go. Outlaw class you can run lexan windows, I think you can cut metal, run a 26 slick and above and bigger turbo than 72mm, I think the limit is 76mm for that class.
Now as far as gears go I am running a PPG dog box not much I can do as far as gearing unless I change the final drive which there is no need unless I plan on running a taller slick.
1st gear drags out a little while as it hooks enough to shift at 11k RPMS. When you think about it as I launch in first at 7k at about 6psi it takes a bit of time to bring up the RPM to 11k and I shift. Once I shift from 1st to second my RPMS only drop down to about 8500 to 9000 rpms and second gear is 30 psi so the time it takes to go from 9k to 11k is super quick. Shifting into third is the same because 3rd now I am at about 35 to 38 psi and 4th I am at about 40 to 44psi.
As far as shifting I keep my left hand on the steering wheel at all times, my right hand is on the shifter at all times, once I shift to 4th I get my shifting hand ready to deploy the chute and once I do that I put the car in neutral and keep the foot on the clutch until I slow down to a stop.

Oh man, prep was so damn bad. When I first went up, there was literally a trail of dirt to the starting line. Typically I 60ft at about 1.5, my first pass was like 1.76 and my second pass was 1.82 LOL.
By the way what happened on that pass?

Not really sure. I ice skated down the track. I think too much boost. I tried turning it up. Some passes the car likes to pull right. It was pulling really hard to the right. My second pass was nice and straight until the car died. I data logged that pass. I probably have a boost leak.

What was the best pass you were able to put down?

Oh and I also had messed with the front and rear shocks with the compression and rebound. Normally I have them all set in the middle but this time I had the rears I think almost all the way setup for compression. So I think I am going to move it all back to the middle adjustments and see.

His rear Strange Shocks were custom valved off his specs and I think he went with the full drag Penske's up front which are like 3 grand for the pair LOL.
Joe's car is no joke, when you think about it he ran a 8.31 on a 6785 here in Phoenix AZ. When we run we are running in 90 degree heat at 3500 foot elevation with a track that usually has a nice top coat of desert dust LOL.
I can only imagine what he could do at like a WCF track.
Joe monitors tons of different things and has pretty much the best stuff you can get. He also has a bunch of testing on his setup and has things dialed in big time.

When I was talking with Joe on Saturday he thinks my car will do 8.5's and faster but not with the Comp Turbo. He thinks the 7285 will get me there but I am going to do some more testing with the Comp. He turned some things up for the next time I test, so we will see.

He averages 1.45 60ft's, so yeah he has it dialed in pretty good LOL.
Ultimately, it will end up being cheaper to focus on the big end honestly. Which is why is suggestion makes perfect sense.

I'm thinking he is suggesting the bigger turbo so you can put down more in 3rd-4th and make up your time that way instead of spending ridiculous time and money dialing in the short track (ie. 1.45 60' and probably 5.3-5.5 1/8th')
