Frank makes Doors too but they are smooth and do not flow well with EK body lines. However, I'm sure fitment is close to original, like the rest of his products.
Been neglecting updates on the doors. After basically getting everything fitted I started block sanding the gel coat to smooth it out, the biggest issue is the passenger being about a quarter inch two thick around the door handle area. After a ton of work I got it where it needed to be. I ordered a really good filler called evercoat ultra rage which allows you to skim the entire door and sets after 45 minutes, not like the cheap *** bondo that dries in 5 minutes.
Once it was set I block sanded until it was smooth, from there I used a 3m glaze and skimmed the entire door and block sanded again. From there I purchased a bad *** primer surfacer called PPG epw115 which is a water based primer. It laid really nice and once ready block sanded and now the door is straight as an arrow. Today I got the door all prepped to spray the door jams.
Looks like there about ready to spray...... have you got the car running / tuned yet?
[/QUOTE
I sprayed the jams today, the fiberglass doors have a “built in” molding so I am going to spray that a satin black and lastly spray the outer door. From there wet sand and buff, assemble and put on.
As for the car, it is ready to run and am just waiting to bring it down and fire it up, break it in on the dyno and get it tuned.

‘that nerve racking first start up.... it’s a bitch. I’m excited for you and your build, I would love to come see you runthat car sometime. I might try to hit up a St.
Louis event but I know that’s still a long way away from you

I’ll get some video of when it starts and makes some passes and post it up for sure!
Got the jams sprayed and done. So now I got that all taped off and you can see the next section to paint. With there fiberglass doors they built the typical moldings into the door so you don’t need moldings, so what I’m doing here is painting the top section of the door a satin black to replicate the coloring of moldings. Once that is done I will be ready to spray the main door.
That car is a GEM. I would find it hard to track it with al the rubber rocks flying etc...
Thats one good thing about knowing paint and body, you mess something up you can fix it LOL. You should see my front bumper, I’ve rebuild it about 5 times LOL and I mean rebuilt. I’ve modified it multiple times, had my car role partly off my trailer and ripped the fiberglass in half but you would never know.

As you can see I’ve glassed and built and repaired that bumper many of times. That bumper taught me how to do some pretty cool stuff with fiberglass LOL.

That's just beautiful! So.. Where can one find good info and pointers on such a craft? (Asking for a friend **wink wink**)

I’ve never had any formal training and learned a good amount just watching videos and playing around. The breaking point for me was about 10 years ago when I wanted my hood painted and was quoted 500 bucks. I was tired of everytime I needed something they wanted to bend me over.
I started out with a husky 20 gallon air tank and husky paint gun and it worked well. I found a good paint supply shop and they are helpful as well with good paints, mixing ratios, etc.
Now I got a big compressor, multiple Iwata spray guns and some good experience and fiberglass work is really easy. I’ve also bought a couple professional buffers and products that cut and buff after paint.
For example I just resprayed my entire car last year and spent about 500 on materials and that was it, the rest is my time and my car looks like glass. I got a buddy who owns a shop and full paint jobs start at 4K. I basically do everything on my car with the exception of the motor build and tune. Mainly because my motor builds are complex but maybe one day I will learn to do that as well LOL and for tuning I’m on motec.
I should not have a problem when I decide to modify things on mine, I’ve built custom fiberglass doors panels / boxes/ dashes and so on for the past 30 years

If you do that you will be just fine, first time I fiberglassed was on that bumper. It’s pretty fun because you can build and shape things the way you want.
Got the trim section of the door done and Friday I will get the main section of the door done.
Forgot to mention the trim is satin black and will take a few days to dull up.
Got a couple things done, I added another boost solenoid and typically always used push lock lines but with the power I’m pushing I decided to build all -4 lines for my solenoids.
I also base and cleared my door and used a different clear this time, PPG DC2000. The cool thing with this clear is the flash times between coats is 1-3 minutes at 70 and it is ready to wet sand and buff in 30 freaking minutes.
Already wet sanded 1000, 2000 and 3000 and with buff and assemble in the morning.
Impressive, most people would never even think about A.N. fittings for a boost solenoid, but considering the boost levels your running it makes since
Yeah I’ll be running around 50psi and have had push lock fitting fail. Figured something like this will hold up a lot better than a failed plastic line that could cause a potential loss at an event.

preventative maintenance for sure, I remember so many nights at the track with my car up on jacks trying to figure out what happened........it was usually shortcuts that failed
