Default AFC-Hack obd2 and timing question

Those of you running the afc-hack with an obd2 set-up, what are you using to control your timing since changing the position of the distributor on an OBDII car won't change the timing?

I know the BTM's work but the car I am working on this weekend does not have one. I know the hack tends to advance timing in 5th gear so how safe is it to run it with no BTM? Should I just run the FMU set-up until he gets a hondata in a month or two?

So should I run the hack with 7 psi on a h23a with 440cc injectors or instead run the fmu and s-afc?

This motor will have hondata in about 3-4 weeks. I'm worried about running zero timing retard in 5th gear pulls where the hack advances timing.

it should. At least it says it does in the haynes. well, it don't mention anything abour obd1 or obd2, nor does it say anything about for 94-95/96+ but it tells you to jump the severice check connector, and turn on car then rotate the distributor until timing is correct.

Cool... I had to get an account there to correct their bad information. Despite the OBD2 timing problem, I can't recommend a BTM due to the expense... you can get a real EMS for less.

Has anybody actually tried this on an OBD2 car, and know if it works?

Yes, I have. I was running 10 psi on a P2P ECU (OBD2b) on my 99 civic EX. **** sucked. It kept popping a CEL code 13 (barometric signal) and would sometimes stutter on the mid RPM band. I got rid of the P2P and replaced it with a P28 (OBD1). It runs wayyyyy better now and no CEL....

As far as adjusting timing on OBD2, I'm positive that it can be done on the distributor as well......
