Default New to this website.

Hello my name is Octavio. I am into rebuilding older Hondas. They're the ones I can afford right now. I am working on a 1999 Honda Civic LX 4 door right now. I bought it with a D15B engine swap and the original automatic B4RA transmission. I hope to get it rebuilt original soon. That is my project right now. This is a really cool website. Nice meeting you all on this forum.

Hey man, welcome to the site. The d16y7 is the correct engine if you are trying to get it running well. With the automatic, a d15b probably isn't going to run well since the ecu, transmission and engine must all match each other if it's an automatic car.

Cool thanks. I'm going to find out what ecu it has and find a d16y7 at a junkyard. Do you know what cars have the D15B? I was wondering if it was the crx or the older civics. The engine block just says D15B.

Welcome to the site. 99-00 sedan is one of my most beloved generations.

JDM engines generally only have the 4 digit code. No Civics of your generation came with a 1.5L, at least in US and Canada, but they are popular replacements for D16Yx variants because of availability and affordability. Different versions of D15Bs came in all kinds of Civics and CR-Xs from 88-95, but you likely have one of the later ones.

As pointed out by Chris, your best bet is trying to find a Y7. It’s going to be pretty tough to get a clean one due to age, mileage, and the fact that these lower trim Civics weren’t terribly loved until the last few years. Maybe try to find one that’s worth rebuilding while you’ve got a runner in the car and then swap when the fresh one is done. It will be a great learning experience!

I noticed idle is around 1400 and rarely it drops to 650-700. I'm going to see what I can do about a D16Y7 and original ecu and harnesses. I feel like the d15 setup that was installed is causing problems for the original transmission. Also it has 194,000 on the odometer. Im going to try and figure out a really good engine rebuild for a D16Y7 for the Civic/Del sol thread.
