Default OEM honda filter/15400-PLM-A02/Manufactured By Honeywell????

I am assuming that most of the boosted Honda's out there are using OEM honda filters. So I decided to ask you guys on what you thought.

Well..I just purchased a few oil filters from the dealership today, and upon inspection I noticed that they were a lot smaller and were manufactured by Honeywell rather than Fram. I did a little search in our archives only to find out that Honywell owns Fram. My question however is if the honeywell filters are an improvement over the oem "Fram" filters? Are there any negatives or positives to these new filters?

I've heard that there is a bump in oil pressure from these filters but filtration has been decreased. One person also posted and mentioned about how these new filters may even hurt the engine because of the excess oil pressure. Can anybody please shed some more light on this issue? Also if you could please list other possible "Good and Affordable" alternatives to the OEM honda filter if it turns out that these honeywell/fram filters are just total crap. Thanks in advance!

BTW..anybody know the purpose of replacing those drain washers that you purchase with the filters? Is it really necessary?

I replace the aluminum drain plug washer every time I change my oil. It is a crush washer, and should be replaced. Next time you change your oil, take a good look at the washer and you'll see that it is indented from tightening the bolt to create a better seal. I used to never replace it, and then I began noticing oil spots on the driveway. I replaced it the next oil change and never had the problem again. Just go to the dealership and buy 25 of them...they're way cheap!
