Default OEM Oil Filter Comparison

15400-PT7-005 (made in Canada) - A little smaller in size and ligher than U.S.

15400-P0H-305 (made in U.S.) - This has been discontinued by Honda - and I can't think of a good reason they'd do something like that. I noticed cleaner oil and oil pressure seemed to stay higher with this one..

a comparison between the 2 - note how older U.S. filter is all metal

U.S. filter:

Canadian filter (came out a bit blurry but you get an idea.. comparison picture shows whats inside)

the us-made oem filter is much better, it is made by filtech and has metal endcaps(which is a good thing). the ones made in canada are utter crap with their cardboard endcaps and made by fram(worse company on the planet). there are some stories out there that talk about how the cardboard endcaps can break apart and mix in with your oil, causing a decent amount of damage.

btw the design of the filtech filter offers higher oil pressure.

All Acura vehicles that take the POH filter are now getting the little RSX filter (don't know the part # off the top of my head). It's the lightweight racing oil filter

yep.. i should have opened used ones instead - i'd like to see how torn up PT7 will end up, (waisted a good poh-305 filter ).. but i wanted to see for myself..

poh-305 is definately built well, it was even harder to cut open..

people say higher oil pressure effect is better than less filtering effect due to smaller size.. i look at it this way, poh-305 been around for long time, - i had no problems with it.. so whats there to improve?

I know it's not exactly related to the oil filter comparison at the top of this thread, but I think the data and analysis in this Toyota Tacoma/Toyota Tundra oil filter comparison might be interesting to Honda owners anyways. There are lots of photos, some hard data, and some interesting info on general oil filter design.

I realize it was created by a Toyota dealer, but it seems like they tried to be unbiased.

Anyways, I liked it.

You bumped an 8 year old thread to post an article on oil filters for a Toyota truck? Nice first post, I suppose.
