Default Re: the OFFICIAL TURBO Prelude thread!!!

got on the dyno this week and it was awesome

hybrid motor >> h22a1 head .. h23a1 block .. h23VTEC ..
9.3:1 compression ratio
87 mm bore .. 95 mm stroke
stock head
stock block with ARP rod bolts
OEM flywheel
crankcase ventilation
Spoolin' Performance Quick4 manifold
Garrett t3/t04e 50-Trim turbo
BalanceShaft delete
680cc injectors
Walbro fuel pump
full 3" turbo-back exhaust
recirculated 44mm wastegate dumptube
NGK BKR7E plugs
pump gas - 93 octane
obd1 p72 ecu

tuned on Crome Pro and conservative .. timing wasn't messed with much

Air / Fuel ratios look great on idle, part throttle, and WOT

DynoDynamics dyno (the lowest reading dyno, tagged "heartbreaker")
292 whp ... ( this equals ~ 350-whp on a DynoJet dyno )
254 wtq ... ( this equals ~ 305-wtq on a DynoJet dyno )
@ 14 psi

full spool by 3900 rpm !

super happy .. now just have to buy a helmet and head to the track and see what she runs

what do you guys think about that torque ?

ok i have a question for u boosted H22 people. I have a 1993 prelude H22 swap with turbo. My map sensor cant read past 5 psi of boost. It just goes into limp mode and starts running rich. Help guys?

And do I have to use a missing link? or new map sensor with more bar readings?

Let me know asap. I've been hearing a lot of things but not something more specific like this. thanks

Hey guys I'm new to this forum, so I have a few questions to ask about my 2000 Honda Prelude H22A . I just purchased a full Turbonetics kit, and i also order 450cc fuel injectors, new suspensions, new stage 3 clutch, and a performance exhaust. Now can someone tell me exactly what i'll need for the car to handle the power from the turbo. mine is a obd2, i wanna know how to convert it to obd1, i know i need a big fuel pump, can someone tell me what kind i'll need. and also if you can kindly let me know what else i'll need to make it run better.

Ok fellas I have a fully but h22a sleeved forged internals, low compression pistons, ported and polished head, 3 angle valve, dual springs and retainers, turbo cams, golden eagle intake / fuel rail, 1000cc injectors, walbro fuel pump, t3 turbonetics turbo, Neptune RTP and much more. For give me for not going into specifics its just a lot to type and im already having thumb cramps. My intent is 450 to the wheels daily driven.

Yes this is my first honda / turbo ever, but not my first build.

My best friend running a type R fully built turbo b16 told me i need to put a bleed valve on my block for any excess pressure built up in the bottom end and to run it to my oil catch can. Can someone confirm this for me please. I have done research with no answer, maybe I am going about researching it the wrong way. Do I need to do this and if so is there a preferred location on the block for it to be done?!?!?!

I think he means crank vents, and you can actually just re-route your PCV if you're only aiming for 400-450whp. There shouldn't be enough crankcase pressure at those power levels for it to be a concern as far as I know. If you want additional relief, you can weld AN fittings onto your valve cover and run a catch can off the valve cover.

Yeah just run a catch can from fitting on your valve cover.

The B series block has fitting on it that guys use to route a drain line back from a catch can, but the H series engine does not have them.

What does everyone think of the f20b? I just got one with a gt35r ball bearing turbo. I'm going to run stock internals at around 8-10psi. What does everyone think? It's for my 01 prelude

Start at the beginning of this thread.... lots of good details in here.

Compared to putting a turbo on other hondas of the same time period, yes its more work.

I’m new to this whole honda thing, my h22a1 currently sucks with terrible misfiring problems and high rev due to not being able to find the AC193 idle air control valve in the us. recently had my timing belt blow and now in between 2k-1.5k rpms there is a loud ticking coming from the ride side of the engine during the high rev while the engine is cold, does anyone know what is causing this?

Anyone know where to buy new/used performance parts for a Prelude these days? Seems like the forums have gone slow on the parts side.

H22a boosted prelude.

Oil pressure cold is 80 psi roughly. when warm is at normal ranges. from reading , 80 does seem fine.

i believe high oil pressure keeps blowing through the oil pressure sensor though on the vtec solenoid. new sensor but oil still ends up in the green connector. Is there maybe an after market oil pressure sensor for an h22a that can handle higher pressure? or is the oil pressure just too high at cold temp, to begin with? Or is this okay and nothing to worry about?
we have used oil pressure guage to confirm operation of bosh oil pressure guage in car
if oil pressure too high, any thoughts as to why?

Thanks

Dont high rev while motor is cold for starters

likely a bent valve if timing belt broke during vtec or under heavy load in regards to ticking
