99-00 Civic With B18B OBD2B Integra ECU - Immobilzer?
I Posted This in The Hybrid Forum for a Reason - It's a HYBRID Question!!!
I don't know why this was moved to All-motor!!!
My friend has a 2000 civic DX and will soon be dropping a B18B engine in it and due to GA emissions he is keeping it OBD2, which means he will be trying to locate an OBD2B ECU to plug into his car. My question:
Will an OBD2B Integra P75 non-VTEC ECU require the immobilizer bullshit?
Also since the immobilizer uses that special key I'm sure he'd need to buy one and have it cut to his ignition, but will the immobilizer system even work in his 2000 Civic DX hatch?
I can't believe I've never encountered this problem/question before.
Secondly is there an alternative besides getting an OBD2A and a jumper harness, or are all OBD2B Integras equipped with immobilizer *****?
Thanks in advance.

Okay having said that was the 99 Integra ECU that you used an OBD2 A or B plug type then?
I have been told on a few occasions that the 99 Integra still carried the older OBD2A plug type unlike it's Civic counterparts that went to OBD2B plugs in 1999.
What's the deal?

He would have had to got a jumper harness.
You can try the civic ECU, I have never tried it to pass emissions, it may work.
