Long drain intervals and Oil Filter Question
I've been reading some stuff about extended drain intervals with synthetic oils, namely AMSOIL oil.
It claims that you can go without an oil change for 25,000 miles but recommends an oil filter change inbetween.
How the heck do you change the oil filter without changing the oil?!
From my experience, each time I pull off the oil filter, oil starts coming out. I would imagine on a full crankcase of oil, more would come out and also with that anti-drainback valve inside, some oil would still be at the top.

I can't believe you actually asked this. The oil doesnt stay in the crankcase buddy, it drains down into the oil pan. The oil filter will always have oil in it when you pull it out, regardless of if you have a 4 qts of oil in the car or nothing in the car.

yes it drains down, let the car sit for a while then get a rag and put it under the filter as u pull it off then put the new one on quickly

Not all the oil drains into the oil pan. The anti-drain back valve is *supposed* to keep some of the oil up there to help oil during a startup. Whether the anti-drain back valve works 100% or not is another question.
I'm also asking this question for other cars, especially the ones with the oil filters pointing down. and near the bottom of the block.
