I just changed the oil on my teg for the first time (3k miles from previous oil change) but I had trouble unscrewing the oil filter so I just left it on and refilled with new oil. (I did drain the old gunky oil out into my catch pan) How long are oil filters supposed to last and is this a problem? I figured since im only 500-600 miles away from my scheduled 75k service, the oil change minus the filter change wouldn't hurt too much..

you couldn't get the oil filter off???? I use fram oil filters they work nicely and they have a place to grip so you can get them off..It really shouldn't be on there that tight.. you should get one of those oil filter wrenches i doubt leaving it on will cause that much trouble just change it next time!

 

did you not use a oil filter wrench?
