search harder there is a kit for sale on here to do it right. you cant just stick them all toghther the system needs to breathe. as for me i just took off the lines a left them open and i have no problems.

reviving this thread. Searched around and couldn't find a kit. I know that the tutorial in the faq doesn't work for 92si's because the whole power steering tubes look completely different. I guess because it has all of these wires that extend out to the front of the car. Supposedly some type of cooling? duno.
a kit or a tutorial on a EG would be cool! anyone?!

The engine isn't spinning an extra pulley. So yes, it does. Removing the rest of it is just for weight reduction.

Exactly, and if you're going for weight reduction, you will probably want to get rid of the power steering rack for a manual anyway.

okay so from what i've been reading some people just squeeze off the extra 2 lines that are on some of the power steering setups that aren't like the power steering racks in the tutorials?
Does someone know for sure what those extra hard lines are for? I've heard some say theyre for cooling the fluid and i've heard some say its for speed sensor?

on my old EG i just took the 2 lines. and cut them. put some fluid in there. and had a T fitting i put the 2 PS lines on there. and put a breather on the top of the T. held up fine. just put some fluid in there every 10k miles of driving.

Re: (FlatBrokeHatch)
Unless you change it out for a manual rack and pinion steering assembly, please keep the power steering pump. The pump also circulates the fluid through a cooler. I don't think it's a good idea to not cool the fluid or even not circulate it. The pump adds little resistance to the engine. If weight reduction is what you want, then you should get the manual steering assembly.

Wrong.
I removed the rest of the system for the increase in steering feedback. Not everyone is a straightline drag racer.

Horrible advice.
The manual rack has a slower ratio than the power steering rack.
Also running the power steering rack looped does not harm the system in any way.
