Function and Form coilover thread
Seriously considering picking up a set of these as I have been offered them cheap BNIB. Only looking to go lower, not stupid low. My concern is the lifespan of the shocks. There seems to be a lot saying 13 months is all they are getting out of them. Is this a small proportion of the sets or would you guys who are running them daily agree? If it's the case the shocks aren't lasting for **** in the US they will be worthless on the rutted Irish roads
Well they do have a year warranty in case something happens. Even if they do need replacement if you get them for a good price you could always throw on their plan that replaces anything or just get the independent shock rebuilt for 75.
Mine have been installed since last march, so a year and a few months. They ride like the day I got them still and they've been good to me. They are a good coilover for the money and go very low and ride pretty good if your bushings are still good. I drove them 5 days a week inthis years heavy winter full of snowstorms and they still are fine.
Do it!

I think I'm bout to order some type 2's for my Ef sedan. Getting tired of my cheap, waste of money boucey setup
Or maybe I'll jet get type 1's... Lol idk how will t1's handle 2"-2.5" drop?

Bought some type ones for my DA, rite when i drove on em, i knew it was the Worse investment EVER.... Function and form are not as good as other setups ive driven on for around the same price range.... I have a 91 integra, and first of all they dont really go low (not even tucking tires, and dont wanna mess with preload), And secondly, the front feels floaty, whereas the back feels stiff. Uneven. Thats just my experience with them. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone with a da/ef....
California Bear: People coming from stock struts on adjustable coils such as yourself will definately feel a big difference, obviously cuz theyre stiffer and smoother than crap coils. But, after feeling other setups, you will quickly see function and form is not up to par. Go with a different setup. Read the suspension threads here on HT and see whats better suits ur needs.

More then happy with my F&F type 1's. Overall ride quality is smoother, the car just feels so much more comfortable to drive. I can go a lot lower but will not due to sh*ty roads.
It was only dropped an inch or 2, not like I was slammed.. Pretty bad when my em1 with ground controls and Koni yellows rides smoother and I'm way lower
Def haven't heard much of anything about F&F shocks that would indicate anything of quality.
No dynos + "32 levels of adjustability" = crap shoot...
I'd be curious to see how people who have ridden in or owned cars with suspensions by the likes of Progress, Koni, Bilstein etc feel about FFs....
Function&Form coilovers have fixed spring rates, so no matter how low you are, the ride quality is going to remain the same. They are budget coilovers and there are definitely nicer setups out there, but they are good for the money
very nice, odd how some people on type 1's are barely tucking tire yet a very few are as low as this teg and the white one a few pages back. been thinking about going with the type I's or IIs, right now im currently on eibach springs with tokico non adjustable shocks. btw on a em1. car is only a daily driver, wanna lower it a bit more then where its at and keep a decent ride quality, dont wanna spend over $1000 on suspension that was designed for track use or anything if the car wont even set on it. lot of good info on here though
Thats not the coilovers fault.
Yeah. I rode in Hatchy69's car and it rides super smooth, it feels like my car when I dont drive it for a couple of weeks (theres been a few times when it sat for a week or longer). Its just because my bushings are bad but his are much better and his car just handles proper. It felt perfect for daily driving to me for the money. I mean really it rode super smooth and absorbed the bumps nicely and for the price it felt awesome. The height adjustability is super legit, you can get pretty low. Its hard not to tuck tire haha. I can only have maybe a 2.5-3'' tire/fender gap at max height. and I can almost tuck rim without touching preload if I was to slam it... Im sure you know lol.
You get what you pay for....

The other thing is that no 2 shocks are the same, if they provided us with a dyno sheet, then it would not be true to our specific shocks and wouldnt mean anything. If they were to dyno test every shock they sold, the price would go up a lot.
These arent the best but they are pretty good for what you pay, its hard to beat them with any coilover of the same or similar spring rates. Its a lot easier to make a soft shock. Why do you think racelands are all super soft? Because they have cheap shocks and thats the only way it will last and even then they blow in under 6 months. My friend has been through 4 sets already

Dont judge without testing them is all Im saying.

I think these are good because 1k suspension is pretty expensive if its only going to be driven.
Look into Progress, FF or GC/koni is what I would suggest. If you can find some buddy club n+ for a good price new that is your best bet IMO.
