The Official EF Discussion Thread
Well in the description they say they have instructors... they had 2 lol. Seat time wasnt bad, but it was just unorganized. Luckily iv been autocrossing since 2006, but other people had their first time on the track without an instructor and were just clueless.
Reasons I stopped running with redline and NASA...everytime you go out it's alot of beginners who don't point by and don't like to get out of the way of a faster driver behind them..I run mostly with a private group now and the atmosphere/organization/experience is at a much higher level
Alot of hpde organizations use self-tech..actually pretty standard and allows for much more track time..and the NASA I was referring to is the hpde portion of their organization..obviously the wheel to wheel racing is a diff story
had nothing but good things with NASA MA. more instructors than drivers somethings and HPDE 1 group does pretty good (what i've seen when i flag) except on 2 occasions that i've witnessed...
I understand you where talking about nasa's hpde, which is what im talking about as well. As you work your way through the ranks in HPDE (1-4) I believe you can test for a racing license.

I WILL go back at some point to get my Time Trial License. BUT, for now I'll keep running with private groups. I'm going to Thunderhill next Thursday and will get 7 run sessions. Redline is too damn trendy now (so lotsa noobs), but I will continue to TRY and run their Time Attack events.
I'm not moaning about noobs. Everyone has to start somewhere...I sure as hell did. I'm moaning about noobs who bring their ego's and strap them in their passenger seat equipped with takata 4-point harness...haha.
edit: and tech...tech has always been lack-luster, no matter what the organization. Sure, they see if your brake fluid looks clean, but did YOU bleed it correctly. Yeah, your wheel bearings seem cool, but did YOU forget the cotter pins in your lower ball joints? See what I'm saying? Tech is all YOU...what they look over are surface items. The sh*t that's going to save your life is your responsibility.

Just looking for info on what you all are talking about. It'd be nice to get some rules and regs to read up on the events you all are talking about so that I could possibly get my car up to speed and track it as well.
we were speaking per wheel fitment. and the two chassis have dissimilar wheel openings between the two bodies. (opinion)
hey blu, how far from VIR are you?
i'm going to VIR this coming winter/spring, and my cousin lives in your town, and i wouldnt mind gong to see him.

This is NASA’s website…at the top under driving info is the rules and other info. Go to your region for more detailed info http://www.nasaproracing.com
Here’s SCCA’s rules http://www.scca.com/contentpage.aspx?content=43
There’s other clubs out there, but these two are a good basis to follow. And I began flagging just by asking. The pointed me in the right direction. On the website it’s usually under “Get Involved”, “Work an Event” or something similar. With NASA-MA you either get paid or earn free hpde weekends. I’ve done it 4 times so far just because my car has been down. Last time they gave us a bonus b/c it just so happened to be the hottest weekend on record at VIR.
i'm 45 minutes from there

I looked at the nasa pro racing site, but which exact rules are supposed to be followed, as in general? Thanks for the info Blu!
Hmmm. But the suspension arms (more importantly rta dimensions) are identical no? Ive always looked at the crx si rta's as being different yes, but that only difference is disc brakes are attached versus drums. All other dimesnions are the same. It sure seems so because they fit my hatchback perfectly, with absolutely zero change in anything, other than seeing a pretty disc when looking thru the wheel opening.
Con: Not having the stigma that Quaife does as being the best, even though those that say so don't actually know why they are saying Quaife is the best.
You have a tech form that has to be filled out. You can inspect your car or someone else can. I know we have like 10 shops in my area that does it for free. At the track inspection they check for batter being firmly and some other things. But it’s your responsibility to make sure that your car is mechanically sound b/c it’s your car that will break down and need towing. And as I was told at VIR, you beak a bundle of tires, you pay for it; you dent a rail, you pay for its replacement; you scratch the paint on the rail, you pay for it to get painted. All debts must be settled before you leave the track. I know that had me driving scared my first time. When I did circuitcross on VIRs’ Patriot Course, they put your car up on jack stands and inspected your car, a lot more thorough.
I never got one because they were a realitivly new product at the time and were completey unproven. Ended up going with the kaaz anyways as I was willing to put up with the compromises for the much better track performance(helical LSD's don't work very well when you are jumping curbs on our bumpy Cali tracks)
im swapping an 89 lx auto to a 5 speed. does ne one no if i can use the auto axles or are they diff than the 5 speed? also when i put the pedal cluster on do i have to take off the dashboard?
