yes, im serious. ive seen those sti wagons on roadcourses and they handle very very well and arent too shabby in the straights either.

now imagine a FWD car with 300-500hp on the same course. i just dont see it happening.

The wrx/sti wagons appeal to guys like me who are married, with kids and live where it snows. What's not to love about a turbo awd car that can haul you and the family and all your stuff. When I was single, my crx was the perfect car

Hmm...

I'd love an RDX.

Unless it's Italian, I won't leave Honda. Maybe a Toyota, maybe.

Toyota's are good. Just as reliable as a honda, easy to work on.

Ok Joseph. Here we go. I dug up the results from the championships this past September. Don't worry the STi is the fastest time I am posting, but it is almost double the power of all the Hondas I am posting too.

Impreza WRX STi

277

James Elterman

Subaru

TAKATA

TTS

1:35.050

This next guy ran time attack as well. He complained of never getting a good lap, because Vipers were holding him up. Then he crashed it coming off the back straight it got loose. The in car vid was nuts. This was his best lap, being held up by vipers.

Civic

17

Tage Evanson

Honda

HASport / Kaaz / Fastb

TTS

1:36.525

This was the lap time of the fastest Honda Challenge racer, who is limited to a stock K series engine.

8

Graham Downey

San Jose CA

Honda Chal 1

Honda

Civic

1999

California- Northern Region

Redstone Motors

15

01:38.8

Also keep in mind this was at Mid Ohio, which has several LOOOOONG straights, and several tight sections. So it's like like it was twin ring motegi or anything.

I guess I am the only one looking at the new Turbo Forresters. They're pretty nice, and low-key but roomier.

No you aren't. I've been looking for either a wrx wagon, legacy gt or forester. The forester and legacy gt use the sti motor with a smaller turbo, intercooler and exhaust. Extremely easy to make them faster. Take wrx wagon struts/springs and put them on the forester and you get a 2" drop while retaining the oem ride of the wrx. Foresters only weigh 120 lbs more than wrx wagons and have way more cargo room. The only downside is the seating is a bit more upright.

Graham is a great driver! He piloted my car to a near 2 minute flat at Buttonwillow!

However, a properly set-up STI would eat my car alive any day...it's just how it is.

Right, but your car is way down on power compared to an STi. If we built a 500whp turbo B motor, and put it in a CRX with Motons, and 225-45-15 RA-1s, and had a suspension engineer tune the suspension, then what would the outcome be?

If you're talking about comparable horsepower, the CRX has an obvious, significant weight advantage.

Should be enough to kick the sh*t out of Loi. I'm thinking 1:56's since I hope to be down to 2 flat with the better suspension, rear sway, and Kaaz LSD.

is that much power even needed on the course??

I Just don't see a point to having a 500hp crx. That power is never going to see its full potential if not built properly

I personally want a 900whp Ariel Atom.

The Law of Diminishing Returns tells me at a certain point enough is enough.

I'd settle for 500.

Honestly, maybe I'm just getting slower in my old age, but a SC'd B16 is fun enough for me. Heck 200whp in anything I think would be fine.

Oh yeah, I gotta snap some pixors of the GTi for you guys. I've been daily'ing it for 2 weeks now, and I have to admit, it drives nice, even stock height. There another sign of slowing down...liking cars at stock height.

That was the other reason I like the Forester, I dont think I'd lower it, I want something I wouldnt have to think about going through the crappy streets downtown or hitting crazy a$$ driveways.

Nah, you just need longer gears, a few tons of downforce, and way bigger, and stickier tires.
