I used to hate having vtec engaged on the highway just cruising. Now I have a built ls. no vtec ftmfw!

big j.d., youre putting an LS tranny on a B16, or the whole LS motor?

ls tanny on a b16, may god have mercy on you when trying to get up to freeway speed on the entrance ramp.

I think he's just using the ls final drive. I have an itr tranny stuffed into a 92 ls case. I'm curious what rpm it will be at on the highway.

I second that notion. I had a Ls tranny on my b16 after my jdm s1 tranny blew up. It was **** slow until I boosted it.

i think jims best option would be an ls with a b16 tranny. lil easier to work on, quicker than an ls with an ls tranny, quicker than a b16 with a b16 tranny.

Dont confuse "final drive" with the actual 5th gear. On my old Y1, i had a LS fifth gear. At 80, i was at around the low low 4000 range if i can recall correctly. I also believe the LS and Y1 final drives were the same (4.266??).

Oh, and i would question the accuracy of vegas tach.

I would question the accuracy of any factory tach. My GSR tranny with 4.7 FD spins at 4k even at 70...about 5k at 85.

And if your VEETAK! is set at 5k, you're a f**kin ricer.

Mine is pretty damn good. I compare mine with my vafc all the time. Now if my vafc is off, i have a problem.

Really? Huh. I assumed they were accurate. Isn't it a signal from the distributor?

My factory tach was always 100rpm off of my aftermarket. I've heard small innacuracies like this from other people before. I'll have to compare once I get my aftermarket shift light w/digi tach reading hooked up next week.

edit: There's always that great little thing called a rev-limiter...I definitely know when it's time to shift when that gets hit

Mine always reads different from other tach readers such as the ones on a dyno or in a tuning program through datalogging.

Haha, technically I did, but I tried to cover one up. I need to relocate my "mantra" now that I ditched the 5" monsturrrrr tach and added an EDM cluster, external shift light, and pretty gages in the vents

From my thread on the 1992-2000 Civic Thread:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2214466

I just searched the archived and recent topics on here for "steering pull", "steering jerk", and "wheel jerk".
A little background: Two weekends ago I installed some Skunk2 lowering springs and have yet to get an alignment. In the front (as you all should know) the LCAs were not messed with.

Today on my way to work, while driving straight on smooth roads, my steering wheel and tires pulled to the right for a split second, but went back to normal. After work on my way home the same thing happened a few times. I'm thinking that I need new tie rod ends. I don't have the time or tools to jack the car up at the moment and won't be able to do anything until Monday.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Since you asked for input, here it is:

Go get an alignment and theeeennnnn try to diagnose things if you're still having a pulling problem. It's kind of like trying to figure out what STD you just caught without seeing your doc, having some lab work done, and getting some meds to clear it up.

Are your tie rod ends ripped?

hey clayton. start with the most stupid obvious thing.

go back and re-tighten everything you loosened when you installed the springs.

nick, i dont think its an alignment thing, it seems like it pulled then went back to normal which makes me think something up front is just loose and moving around.

I don't have my jack at my apartment, but it's not like a pull as if the car just wants to go right the entirety of the drive, but it's a sharp, sudden jerk. I'm familiar with tramlining and steering pull, and it's not that.

EDIT: I am getting an alignment on Monday (working all weekend/today).

Could be, could be. I guess we'll all have to stay tuned for Monday.
