That was a rhetorical question, btw.

I had the blues on my CRX way back when, never again.

What are other options for struts? I'm probably going to end up getting some GC coilovers since everybody swears by them.

I've heard a lot of bad things about D2/Omni/Skunk2/Ksport as far as durability and quality. I would really rather have a full coilover system, but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg.</TD></TR></TABLE>

The only one I wouldn't agree with you on are D2's. My friend had 'em and the car drove like it was on rails

I gotta say, I like my omnis. I have the street setup, which is a softer spring rate than the track version. It rides and handles well. But if I did it again, I would go with koni/gc's. That way you can swap springs and dampeners independently. For a street set up, I wouldn't spend much more than $600. You don't need need a $1000 set up unless you only track the car.

you will have to excuse my friend. He is a little slow

As for the blues, granted they ride like **** if the car is dumped, but at a modest drop i have found them to be decent. I just put a miata suspension last weekend, ein s-tech & tokico blues. It rides great, comfortable and responsive at the limits...

I am sure that koni/gc combo is better but also 50% more than your 500$ limit...

me too You can switch the springs on the omnis, if you call/email omni regarding new springs they can get you a different rate. I actually decreased the sping rate on mine as they were too firm for DD

I'm on KYB AGX's and H&Rs. The KYBs are awesome and adjustable, but I just wish the H&Rs were a bitt lower. Other than that, , no problems here. Fairly cheap, too.

buddy of mine has agx's and GC's and it handles very nicely on his miata. I love my Ksports. Haven't had a complaint yet. Probably should have gotten a stiffer rear spring, but oh well.

I like them as is for now. Kylefakesi-r had the same omni's in his hatch, but it rode a little different. At the time, I had my car gutted in the rear, and I have 195/65/14 azenis, and he had 15" dunlops. I think the stiffer sidewall had something to do with it. I'm thinking once I put it all back together and the rear interior is in, it will be great

I'm awaiting a response from Adam about the price on his Koni/GC setups. I'm leaning that direction, but I still need to decide what wheels.

How much of a difference do the top hats make? </TD></TR></TABLE>

I hear from suspension gurus that tophats are a waste of money. Also dont get the ef rates, get the teg rates 450f 350r, it bottoms out less and rides smoother. Even with my konis on full stiff my car ride beautifully

i would have to disagree. Perhaps on a moderatly lowered car with plenty of travel they do little. In the instance of a slammed EF, where there is little to no travel already, im sure that additional 1" of travel is worth it. Then again this is assuming street driven....

Man, can you tell i just got the internet working at work? more posts in the past 3 hours than evar

SAMSONITE!!! That's it! I knew it started with an S.

As far as ride quality goes, I'd like it to be decent for DD, plus my daughter (17 months) will be in there quite often.

Would you consider no fender gap, but not quite tucking the tires on 15" wheels "slammed?" Wouldn't cutting the bump stops give you another inch of travel if necessary, or are we talking about another inch beyond that?

I appreciate all the responses, guys.

MmMmMm good ol' movie quotes.

Ive rocked tokico blues waaay back in the day and they werent that bad. They rode OK (i wasnt slammed) and never blew out on me. Maybe some of you guys are expecting too much from them. First of all, dont slam your ride, then look at the price. Not bad in my book.

I've heard the Tokico Blues are an OEM replacement, not for performance. They don't respond well to being lowered. I had them on my CRX and it was a nightmare.

Back in the day (which was a Wednesday by the way), I had maxspeed coilovers on kyb gr2's on a crx. With 16" wheels. I spent most of the time on the bumpstops.

Kyle, get that eg outta here! You need to build either a 4 door ef or a wagovan as a daily. It's your destiny.

This is what a friend of mine said about his crx. He had the blues with slight drop springs and said it was under damped.

this is the truth. they are an oe replacement. if a car had blues and was set at the stock height, they may very well be good for a nice ride.

Just as suspected, most of you were running spring rates far greater than the shocks can handle well as a stance that was more than a "sport drop.". On Illuminas adjustability scale, if stock shocks are the number 1 setting, the blues are on the number 2 setting.
