haha damn, GL with the sale. Should say you're going to get a Fit, that would **** Bart off. Then he will say something about throwing babies off a bridge onto the highway.

I know right? Due to the lack space for us EF heads to bullshit, it occurs here
I like it, it provides a little auto-diversity
I dunno if you recall but 3-4 years ago when you first started rywire you did my harness for my jdm d15b. Years later still no problems, Thanks

yeah but how reliable would that be? and pray to god you dont hit traffic with an
engine makeing that power..you would be praying that the engine was watercooled if so..
i love my VW, but i dont know what german engineers were smoking when they
engineered some of the stuff on these cars.. even the present VW's are
scary...when one thing breaks its best to get rid of it, because then everything starts
going..

thanks......ive thought about it several times....I just like to make **** that works...and most people want pretty shiney stuff...so I dunno, if I see a demand....I might have to buy another welder and quit mowing grass....i have a chop saw and a band saw...all the plates (for the strut tower bars and lower bars) are hand cut right now...I drill several holes and connect the dots....there is a water jet cutting business about 30 mins away and im trying to get to know the owner so hell cut me deals. Im trying to find several shells..(there is a guy around here that has a couple) but prices...I like to make sure everythng fits...with interior (the above wont) and stuff like that so when I get the shells I can make a jig from the prototype and start cranking them out...mostly EF stuff....but I do have a EG/DELsol Here so...I guess If anyone wants anything lemme know...I can custom paint different colors too

Oh hell yea the newer german engineering is a joke for the most part (as far as repliability goes). BMW, benz, vw etc are meant to be leased, not kept for a long period of time.
In regards to old vw though, u gotta remember their original intent for the car. It started off with like 40hp so its safe to say they werent meant for performance, much like our EF's, LOL. If you wanted aircooled high powered, high rpm, and reliability you went with Porsche. With a dry sump, 12+ qt oil capacity, front mount oil cooler etc. they were built for 100+ mph all day long on the autobahn.
CBengineering: Isnt there a company already out there making that same rear bar for EF's?

very true my old freind with a hot rodesque bug has had like 3 motors i his, and one of them was a bigger motor. he just replaces it whenever it starts to act up

you must have forgotten about all the vws that had tons of miles on them from cross country trips. they are pretty stout engines (im referring to aircooled motors). as long as you have the correct and all cooling tin, you are usually fine. i spent 2 hours with mine waiting to cross the border back into the US when my motor was rebuilt in mexico. didnt overheat. these cars were designed in the 40s. many of them are driven in the desert without overheating (BAJAS run in the sand dunes easily come to mind). people can have problems with any car manufacturer. even hondas (gasp) have issues.

those air cooled vws air pretty stout. but still aren t ef's.
on the other hand i stripped the heating and air con out of my junk car to get ready for a complete flat black sohc something. something to get back into hondas. toyotas are hard to make fast

a baja bug with a 1600 cc engine will not run even close to an 11sec pass..
im refering to performance air cooled engines making XXX amount of power to race, they're ok when racing and what not...but the reliability of them when making XXX amount of HP and still driving around town as a grocery getter or cruiser...is not so great.....as you said they were engineered in the 40's..youre right...but im looking at it as a daily driver weekend warrior stand point..nothing compares to a 230hp daily driven/weekend track car EF in full interior reliability....on the other hand, for daily- to work and back a 40HP type1 will do perfect..
Also, i've had a couple friends with water cooled VW's ....after about 60K miles :from what i've seen: they tend to go to ****...from a motor mount leaking, to a tranny giving in, to a heater core leaking coolant, to massive amounts of electrical problems.....i've never seen a honda have consecutive problems like that..especially with only 60k- on them...trust me..i know..
so to german engineering a big
and to japanese engineering a big

*EDIT* I start my "career" job the day after I get back from Nashville, so I plan on enjoying the 4 day weekend. I'd hate for you to miss out.
