My friend has them and Ive been in it, I didnt feel anything. It felt weird because I was like, so this is whats like to have coilovers? I couldn't feel any difference from a stock car lol. He told me he had the dampening on full stiff!

I think they ride nicer on softer dampening but yeah save for the Konis.

 

that is your other problem with the "colorful" companies. they offer 1058925 adjustable damping which you dont need. i saw graphs somewhere and one damper would be at "3" and the other at "6" but they would have the same damping. so a rule of thumb is to keep them at full stiff or soft unless they have been dynoed and you have the sheets.

 

Yup. Look at PIC. Yumm... For me its between PIC and Koni/GC. I still havent made up my mind when I decide to upgrade next year or maybe this year even. My Type 1s were comfortable today, probably because of the road water/temp making the bushings feel a little better.

Do the gc top hats become chatty after a while? I imagine that the springs against the metal base of the top hat eventually make a bunch of noise.

 

No chatter at all. The upper mounts come with a rubber/polyurethane isolator piece that goes between the mount and the spring so it makes no noise.

im surprised by those graphs. i figured the apex units would be geared more towards the middle of what the selects are. mind you those are the r3s and also that is a graph from one damper so others could be different.

also we got some more snow fall. i layed it down on the ebrake quite a bit today. i had a real good on coming out of qdoba parking lot..

yank the car towards the driver side..lay it out for about 15 feet. lift off the throttle and release the ebrake then kick it right..lay it out again for about 15 feet. it starts going downhill to the exit road then the stop sign. so i stay in the throttle and release the ebrake countersteer and grab the brake again. stay kicked out all the way until the stop sign. it felt good and i knew it was looking good too because the person turning into the road stopped because they must have thought i was out of control. hahaha. only good thing about snow.

It's been soo cold here the past few days that if I park with my e-brake...it freezes so I'm dragging *** for a few feet or until I hit solid pavement, (parking lots and side roads are pretty much 100% snow/ice covered).

yeah this stuff was fresh. it was alot more slick than the last dose we got. i was in 4th gear before i got through most lights. tq monster!

 

The first graph are R3s, the second are P3s. Yeah theres always a variation between one and the other. The apex unit is geared different. Look at the chart newtons. 2500 vs 3000

I guess Im fortunate to be in a state that isnt covered in snow and ice but the roads suck due to a heavy trucking system, the local economy is rural based and the good ole boy system is prevelant. Regardless, I hope to see some snow soon.

 

Im sick of the snow. So far this winter we got pounded with 26 inches plus another 3-6 inches tonight/tomm morning.

I dont mind winter. In fact, I really like winter. Although this is the first year I have been able to and have had the parts/money momentum to do something nice with my car. Im def not rich but Im able to make some monies for the car though, so this winter has been kind of killing me.
