no the bike is just right I'm just not that comfortable with the saddle being much higher than the handlebars. Is there a benefit to a high saddle low bar setup? I'm still kinda rusty getting back to bicycles. I haven't really ridden since I got my driver's license at 16 and tomorrow is my 25th, but you know how the saying goes... "It's like riding a bike, you never forget"

better geometry/aero. Right now you are basically riding upright like a moutain bike.

and why a rear brake.... on a fixie if u do a brake isn't most of the braking force through the front?</TD></TR></TABLE>
my uncle used to ride alot(semi pro)(and since passed away so no more mentoring) and he always told me that most people put the brake on the front on fixies which is fine, but with the low bars and high seat that you would tend to go over the bars on a real hard front wheel stop. I seen him after a crash at Buckingham fountian were he went over the bars and he was really tore up so that always stuck in my head.

well u do need proper brake "modulation", but yea there is always a possibility of going over the front if u "slam" on it
"You really should have a front brake. A front brake, all by itself, will stop a bicycle as fast as it is possible to stop. This is true because when you are applying the front brake to the maximum, there is no weight on the rear wheel, so it has no traction."

Same reason all cars have signifigantly stronger/larger front brakes than rear brakes.

I wish I lived close enough to where I work to ride a bike. That would probably be pretty nice first thing in the morning. And even better gas mileage than what the civic gets now.

hi there
i was thinking about getting a fixed gear bike but decided to get a road bike
its simple and it was cheap it is a schwinn prelude i got it from target im just taking it to college
but i have acouple issues
i fell one time on the bike and it knocked the chain of the gears towards the pedals it was an easy fix to put back on but now everytime in in 5th gear low it makes noises
and just today i was in 7th gear high and the chain came off both gears so my question is can a chain be to long what would you guys suggest
also on a side note i just bought the bike for transportation but im really liking it a barly drive my car anymore not to save on gas its just fun for me and i was thinking about getting some cheap clip in shoes and some clip pedals any online shopes where to get tehm
oh and one more thing can anyone show me a pic of the correct way to lock up a bike i have a quick relese on the front so ill just take that but how do i chain it up like what is the safest way?

there's a 51cm cannondale track frame & fork on ebay (blue OG style). one of the best track frames ever made IMO. someone needs to pick this up...

This makes me want to visit Seattle. A few people I've met either worked in Seattle or were there for business and just sounds like an interesting place. Crazy kids on fixies everywhere too it sounds like.
