((((((((----EG Hatch Thread----PT 2 )))))))))
I have no plans on getting rid of my car, but I have a daily. If the EG was my daily...I'd have sold it. After my EP was broken into and I had some **** stolen from it, I never did sleep right. I don't want to go back to that.
HOWEVER, I do want to change my daily up to a car that's at least more "fun" to drive minus the "theft attention level" of the EG.
I'm considering an 4 door GTi, Honda Fit (with epic wheel locks) or even an SRT Caliber.

I also have a daily... if it werent for that Id be tired of it... When I drove it everyday to work and school there was no excitement for me in it... It isnt an expense for me to keep it (unless im modding it lol)... I pay insurance on it and thankfully my parents let me keep it in the garage for free. I drive it a few days out of the week, if the weather is nice on the weekends ill drive it all weekend and maybe one day during the work week. This past weekend i put 145 miles on it from friday and saturday. I cant see myself getting rid of it, theft is not too bad in my area and when I take it places im usually close enough for my alarm pager to still work... I enjoy the car more than I would enjoy a bit of cash that I would get for it... So I'll hang onto it as long as I can, my girlfriend has been with me long enough to know (7 Years) what it means to me.. since I've been with her cars has always been my main hobby... so there isnt and has never been any pressure from her to get rid of the car. In the future when I'm ready i'll probably get a truck or an Suv... something thats nicer than a 95 Civic Coupe to drive everyday lol.
I hope to be able to pass it along to one of my boys. Just last week while my oldest son Nehemiah was helping me wash the hatch in the driveway I asked him. "Hey Nehe, do you want this to be your car someday?" He said, "Yeah dad."
I won't ever sell mine....
Felliphe I can totally relate man. I didn't do the college thing because I was forced to become an adult overnight. I made $8/hour and had to get my own place when I was barely 19. Finding a house/apartment with a garage for less than $500/month was IMPOSSIBLE, so the Civic had to sit outside for almost two years in a pretty sketchy part of town. I slept like crap and just waited for the day when I woke up and my car was gone. It was a horrible feeling to have all the time and when I look back at it I get furious with how much stuff I missed out on by not having a car I could leave outside. Luckily my girlfriend (now wife) was super supportive and we would take the Civic to her parent's house and leave it there when we went places for long periods of time in her truck. Now that I have a place to store the Civic and don't have to ever worry about anything happening to it, I will keep it forever. I get the itch to sell it sometimes, but all I have to do is go drive it and it makes me re-think the situation haha. If the Civic was still my daily driver though I probably would have sold it by now. No A/C, and the thought of theft in the back of my mind all the time is totally not worth the pleasure I get from driving it.
I mean come on, I can't sell the car that was on my groom's cake at my wedding or the first car me and my wife bought together, the car that has taught me so much about basic mechanics, or the car that has made me so many friends and e-friends in several different states/countries over the years. It would be like selling a part of me honestly....

I've been thinking about selling for the past couple of years, been fishing but no one has offered me that number that got me thinking about letting it go. Its probably the fact that I pay 128 a month just to store it somewhere and my daily is a piece of ****. I think if I had a nicer beater I wouldn't really think much about selling, how the makes sense is beyond me lol. Hopefully I can come up with funds to buy a used b7 a4 that I can daily year round. Tired of a shitty heater and being afraid to drive in the winter.
Another reason I don't feel id sell is because I've already thought about what I'm going to do to it next winter. Fml

Having a decent daily and cheap storage is the key to having an EG hatch as a weekend car. I daily a 2002 Chevy 1500 with power everything, cruise, ice cold AC and it's nice enough to not be embarrassing and just beat up enough for me to not give an eff if it gets door dinged or even has a little fender bender.
My Civic costs me $79/month for insurance and that is all, so I can understand the cost of storage sucking....

will never get rid of mine it was my first car, and i have bought several other EGs that i have gotten rid of I bought this one on Dec. 12th 1999 and will keep it until I am not capable of driving it at which time I will pass it on to my son.
I usually sell my cars pretty fast, but ive gotten pretty attached to my hatch now usually it would be sold already haha since before i owned a hatch i always wanted a Aviator Grey Eg but id really like to do a boosted eg coupe. but who knows itll probably be a while till i sell the hatch.
Finally got on track for the first time, this year.

Sitting on 200 per month with insurance just to own this thing. Been like this for the last two years. I guess I must love the thing to deal with it. So many more miss could have been had if I Had a better situation. That should change soon though. Can't be picking up chicks in a busted *** daily

hahahaha

I love it too much to sell it,but lately iv been looking at a couple of ITR's. Im thinking bout putting back my b16a in my eg and buying an ITR chasis and placing the b18 in there. Then I start to think that an ITR wouldnt satisfy me power wise, because the EG weighs less.Man it sucks not having the money to do all the things that go through your head sometimes .
That doesn't work out so well in the rural midwest US.... My town barely has school buses let alone public transportation. It would be awesome to live in a metro area where you could ride a bike everywhere or walk.
I couldn't remember if I posted this on here or not. The top picture is the minute I brought the car home 7 years ago and the bottom pic is from a couple weeks ago.
