People dont POR their engine bays as you might think. Very few actually do. Most of the time they're just painted "battleship grey". Which is what you should do if that's the look you want. POR is perfect for the wheel wells but I wouldn't do it in the engine bay because it's going to get a lot of sun exposure and become light in color. Not to mention that it would be a pain to lay 4 or 5 coats of it when you could just spray paint a gray color in one shot.
true, I guess that's what I really meant. The color. I'm not sure about a lot of sun exposure. I hardpark it with my hood open maybe 2-3 times a year.
Yea, I'm not sure about the sun exposure thing... The reason I want to use it, is because I plan to do some actual track time. With that, if you have a leak, malfunction, etc. it will be easy to spot AND with the coating, it will protect the car unlike paint.
And SLOW, I did use the dry ice. Works pretty well. You just have to be patient lol

Looks really good man, very clean! How about some engine bay shots?
Heres this weeks discussion question:
How long do you guys hope to keep your EGs for?

This EG is my 12th or 13th car I think LOL. I've had it since 2010 getting it from a junkyard with a blown engine. I used to go through cars like baseball cards, but I plan on keeping this one for a long long time. It's really starting to mean a lot to me. It's a slow progression, but it's got good things ahead for it.

Only reason would be practicality really. I'd love to keep it, take it to the track, etc. However, I'm in a point in my life where I don't think I can have a play toy. I'm considering getting a house and proposing to my girl in a few months. Maybe later on once things get settled, I'll revisit an EG to make into a weekend/track car. Until then, I think I'll sadly have to let it go.
I'll be looking to pick up a stock EP3 or TSX if I can find one for a decent price.
My heart kinda hurts writing this lol
I'm roughly about the same number.. maybe a few more lol. I kinda hate ya asked this question right now. I love my car, but someone just offered me a good price for it, and I'm honestly thinking about letting it go

u gotta get ur priorities right..so id let go of the EG if i were u (sad as it is)..... i myself got my EG about a month or so after i got married....but was planning on it with my wife a few months before hand though...and since EGs are dirt cheap in the US.. im pretty sure it wont be long before u get another one....as long as u work hard towards it.
and good luck on the proposal... really wish u the best on that...
Yeah its tough. Even though the EG is a really well designed car that can take mods very well and are fun to build to your tastes, it does require a lot of money to restore them and at the end of the day they are basically 20 year old cars which don't have that much safety, comfort or peace of mind (theft).
It sucks wanting to go somewhere and not being able to because you wouldn't feel comfortable having your car left out of sight. Luckily for me it's not usually an issue but every now and again it is. I never take it to the movies but thats not a big deal. Sometimes when I have to leave it somewhere at night when I am far away I get worried.
I am never selling mine because I love it too much and its honestly not worth that much. I wouldn't sell it unfinished either, I started this and I want to have my vision come to life. I want to track it and enjoy motor sports like I have always wanted to do.
My dilemma however is not having to "do the grown up thing" and get a newer car, but its that I'll be going to a big school in Boston probably and there is no way that the EG will sit outside unattended in a parking lot for hours without being noticed after a while and it would just be a matter of days or weeks before someone tried to steal it. I wouldn't want to live my life looking out the window or anything of that sort either. That means that I would need to store it and buy a beater which I am fine with but then where am I going to store it and will I have to pay for storage fees?
It basically comes down to drive it and have it possibly be stolen, or sell it so that it doesn't get stolen. If I could store my car somewhere for close to nothing, then I could just "start over" and save for a car from scratch. If I stop buying things for it now and start saving, then by the time I go to a new school I could have something nicer like an EP3/DC5/GD3/FA5 instead of a beater. It might be a lot of hassle to not drive a car but I think that its just a sacrifice that I would have to do. Luckily it seems possible because those cars are coming down in price. I can find an EP3 around here for $5-7k and thats not all that much if I start saving now and stop building the EG.
What do you guys think?

ill never sell mine as long as i have the space. If money becomes an issue its easy enough to part it out, but i'd keep the chassis to rebuild at a later date 100%.
oh man, i think this is something we can all relate to. for those who know me on here, knew i had no intentions on selling my eg. i always said i'd keep it forever. that car did so much for me. but i was put in a similar position as you. i was moving down to florida for school and the eg was my only car. instead of living in fear, i decided to make what felt like the worst decision at the time, and sold it. looking back, i no longer feel like the decision was bad. you kinda just realize that YOU made the car what it was, and when the time is right you can do it all over. the emotional attachment is something you can always gain as time passes with a new car. my eg helped me put some money down on my new daily, i don't regret it at all.... at least i can sleep now. besides, i keep in my mind that one day i'll soon own another.
