Quick question guys, I'm replacing a timing belt on my D16Z6 and the timing belt tensioner spring is about $50. Do I really need to get a new one? They must be pretty rare to be going for that much for a simple spring...

That's what sets the tension of your timing belt, so it's probably a good idea to change it out while you are in there. I imagine the spring has lost the proper tension over the years. You should change the tensioner pulley too. I didn't change my tensioner on the SOHC when I did my t-belt and regretted it later. It started making all kinds of noise because the bearings were going bad not too long after the t-belt change.
Yeah I mean I'm changing the tensioner but I also figured the spring looses tension over the years but I've been told that its only for setting it, once its all torqued down it doesnt matter. Anyways, another issue, I can't find the head stud part #, can anyone help me find it? Lol hate to ask a "noob" question but I must be blind.
Install new spring, tension timing belt, tighten tensioner bolt, remove and return tension spring......profit???
Anywayyyyy........here is an OEM one on Ebay for $12.50 shipped
