I have a LOT of friends with VWs and you truly have to be dedicated to the brand to put up with all the little electrical BS stuff they do when you try to mod them. Check engine lights are a way of life... The newer cars aren't as bad, but if you sneeze too close to them once they are modded the check engine light will come on....

There's a reason why someone started making these stickers....



Just invest in a VAGCOM cable and a cheap laptop and you'll be good to go.

Any you guys run Avid mounts?

 

I do, The ones before the supa solids. Fit great, no issues with em at all.

 

How is the vibration?

 

I don't know if it would be a fair comparison because my car is gutted along with the under the dash. It vibrates pretty good, but not too crazy I guess? lol. I'm used to solid mounts so I'm not sure how to explain it to someone else. Even with inserts you'll have vibration. And I have a 2.2 to your 1.8 so I don't know if it'll be a fair comparison. To me, It's not bad at all.

 

Yea all I got was the torque mounts don't think it should be too bad

 

Should have just got the 3 regular mounts. They aren't very expensive and worth it in the end. My friend busted 3 transmissions with stock mounts . Atleast you got the 2 torque mounts. Should work out pretty good.

 

I got the mounts for free so I'm probly just gonna get energy inserts for the engine mounts

 

Lots of guys who run uprated main mounts dont even use torque mounts as they become no longer necessary. Cleans up the bay and loses a bit of weight (gearbox torque mount bracket and a/c mount bracket).

I too would suggest just going for the 3 main mounts

I see a lot of people go without torque mounts to make it look cleaner, but I've also heard horror stories of the driver side mount ripping out of the block and ruining the block.

B20/Vtec to me just spells disaster especially if you don't know the history and build quality. Find a cheap stock one and build it up yourself like Mrevann said.

I'm with you hatchy. They come silver/transparent from Honda. I think with OEM clear corners and oem headlights they flow better when left silver.

With black housing headlights and smoked amber corners the black surrounds on the fogs would look better.

So I got the avid mounts tq mounts in. Vibrates quite a bit but I don't gotta worry bout having any play in the engine now. Thing don't even move

 

It'll move. I don't look forward to the day one mount goes bad and ruins my hood. It currently sits on the motor
