Last day here on my honeymoon in St. Lucia. Place is pimp but so ready to get back home. Not driving my cars for a week has been PAINFULLY hard!

Yo, Matt PM me what you used on your floor. Like brand name. So excited to do this in my garage once I get the walls finished.

Crazy hate on rotaries in here. Chill out everyone. Some serious ignorance in here regarding them. Goes to show most read/see something on the internet and suddenly they are an expert.

bee18see1: 600rwhp is crazy! That will be a handful, but a blast. My buddies FC makes about 330rwhp and damn that thing is a spin-out machine, lol. Very fun car. If your going to go with a 7 I would highly recommend going with the FD chassis as a platform. Hot spots in the rotor housing are often kept in check by using meth injection with the already common sense adjustments made to any combustion motor. Meth injection will become a normal thing for you if you go rotary and high power. You definitely live right on the line with these motors.

Isn't heat wrap designed for headers to keep the heat in and out of the engine bay? Aren't most performance intakes aluminium so that they will dissipate heat and keep intake temps low? Why would someone heat wrap an intake? What am I missing?

@g2_teg_ what ive noticed is when the car is in idle/traffic etc the intake does get pretty hot before i wraped it and now its staying cold?so surely thats better for the intake pipe to be colder?right?...im sure its not doin a lot but its keepin the pipe cold ha

How can you tell how hot or cool the intake is when it is wrapped? The wrap is designed to keep any heat INSIDE the wrap. Have you tested intake air temps before/after?

i have ran the car with no filter so i can actually feel the inside of the pipe..ive noticed the temps have improve when i wrapped the exhaust mani anyway so i had some left over so i said id try it?

Darren wrapping your intake tube is not bad idea to keep the intake tube temperature down. Engine bay tempratures can make your intake tube temperatures very high and the air travelling through the intake's tube will increase however.. even though you wrapped your intake tube.. you are still pulling in Hot air. I would say you need a 3 1/2-4" diameter air feed.
if you run an air feed make for sure it is Filtered or screened because you want to use a velocity stack and you are risking material entering your intake manifold.

machining your intake manifold is also not a bad idea but i would be concerned about how much material you are taking off to match the ITR throttle body, you may weaken the mating surface and risk your throttle body gasket from sealing 100%.

Other mods to look at is port matching your throttle body gasket to match the throttlebody port and intake manifold port. I also hear hood lift or hood spacers keep your engine bay cooler but i believe that is more for appearance.

What happen to your build on haven? did you delete it or block me because i kept asking you for stickers?

Thanks
-Ruzycki

I don't understand it. The pipe is aluminium so that the heat can escape but the purpose of the wrap is to keep heat from escaping. Makes perfect sense to me to use on the header.

Maybe science isn't my thing?

The engine temp is what is raising the intake temp. So if the pipe is wrapped not as much heat is hitting the intake
