its not much of a difference at all, just gives a cleaner appearance with the wheel and tire combo, brings the rim closer to the fender well like a person with a 2in drop with a 55 series tire wont look as low as somebody with a 50 series tire, but they have the same drop, it just looks better basically, plus you get a stiffer sidwall which is good for carving corners hardcore lol. What are your plans for the car?
98 civic dx coupe
motor d16y7
generic cold air
ebay 4-2-1 header (catless)
custom mid-pipe + axle-back w/silencer
right now my plans are just to make it a clean street car for next summer, little lower, lips, grill, some minor interior mods/accessories, etc.
and im toying with the mini-me option, a buddy has all the stuff i'll need, just gotta scrape up some loot
JDM d15b vtec
ebay header
2 1/2 exhaust pipe to a stock si axle back cause my muffler broke
ebay intake with k&n filter
pr4 mapped ecu to run vtec
stage 3 clutch
8lb flywheel
si cable tranny
My plans for now is to replace my axle back with a custom 40 series flowmaster muffler, replace my front struts with adjustable ones so I can lower it a bit, replace my tie rods, axles, clutch, flywheel, short shifter, and tranny. Not gonna do much to the motor accept do the timing belt and water pump, Im planing on trading it for something newer sometime during the summer

lol. i really didn't have a question, rather usless info on them. i have a grand am gt. its fairly quick for being stock. stock hp is 175 and torque is 205. with just an ebay cold air, and a custom 2.5" catback with flowmasters, my friends grand am gt put down 215 and 225 to the wheels. amazing. it would take a grand or so to get that out of a honda, lol. everything on his car is stock, except for the intake and exhaust. so, i think i'm gonna invest in in a cai and a cat back, lol. thats some good improvement over stock.
here's my other car besides the honda. the wife drives it. bash all you want....i'm used to it here. lol

i polished the wheels back in the summer, here's a before and after.

its the wifes car more or less. i like honda's, she does too, but she's always liked gm products. no problem. the thing runs like a champ. itll stomp the accord i know that. and, it rides nice, nicer than any lowered honda i've ever owned, lol. its a decent car, i have no complaints mechanicly so far. pulls pretty hard, and breaks the tires loose very easily. i was actually impressed with it to be honest with you.
that, and i don't know of any affordable honda that comes factory with 175 hp, chrome wheels, dual exhaust, and runs this hard, lol. know what i mean? haha

eh, i don't mind it. she likes it, thats all that matters i guess. i agree about the accord, but, i don't think i can afford one. i got the grand am with fairly low mileage, at a very good price, and got a big *** warranty. i paid less than 4400 for it, and its a 99. a v6 accord that year, would be hard to find in the color combo, price range, mileage ect...that my wife was looking for. i know what your saying, i agree, but "if momma ain't happy, ain't noone happy" lmao.
Yea I bought my wife a 2000 Xterra cause thats what she wanted when I really wanted to buy her a CRV, so yea I know how you feel, unfortunately she didnt know how to take care of it and I sold it and now she is driving a Corolla lol!
now this doesnt mean you can slap a b-series tb on your d-series mani of corse, because the d-series mani has a 56mm port. but if you have an aftermarket itm & are still running a stock tb you are probably robbing yourself of power.
very noticeable difference in acceleration with just a simple tb swap.
making power is a helluva battle, but freeing up robbed/restricted power, is half the fight.
* dont buy a S2 mani though, get a blox or even an edelbrock. the design for the iacv on the d-series skunk2 manifold is retarded and you have to massage (beat the **** out of) the firewall to get the thing to clear.

i've seen stock d series with aftermarket intake manifolds fit with no issues.
a b series tb is an upgrade for a d series no matter what the port size. think of it like exhaust. your cat is only so big, but you get an aftermarket cat back, right?
if you want an even bigger upgrade, use an h series tb on either a b or a d series its bigger and will bolt on.

in other news today:
so the insurance guy came out today. he said the mileage and torn drivers seat is what is going to kill the value the most. but, he told me he will play with the numbers, to try and not total it for me, that way i get a check for xxxx and i keep the car and i can do with it what i want. he said a ballpark figue i was looking at getting from them is around $1500. plus i keep the car. hmmm...part out, and a new car it sounds like to me! lol
the reason im using a b-series throttle body is because a skunk2 intake mani has a 62mm intake port. a stock b series tb is 62mm VS. a stock d series at 58mm.

omg thank you so much, i was getting a headache reading misinformation. ugh.... and as far as my knowlege is concerned a b series intake mani will not fit a d series motor, throttle bodies yes, and the LS motors use a 58mm throttle body where as stated above the b16s use a 60mm. You will not notice much of a difference at all, even with a aftermarket intake manifold.
and you can slap on a b series tb onto a stock d series intake mani without any issues, the bolt holds all line up its just the actual hole is 4mm larger than the port on the intake mani
It takes boost or a very heavy N/A build to feel gains from a 60-62mm TB on the d-series motors.
56-58 is the ideal upgrade for the majority of bolt on builds.
And no, flange bolts and port spacing are WAY off on a B manifold compared to a D. They wouldn't fit for sure.

well the tb i pulled off my car was 58mm (a stock d-series) and the b-series i pulled off of a junk yard car is 62mm. i micrometer'd them both.
sorry for my ignorance, i just must have gotten lucky when choosing the car to get the tb from.
