Default Willem + SST27sf512

New to tuning but i was just doing some simple testing with my willem.

Willem PCB45 board with 0.98D5 software and SST27SF512 chips

downloaded a crome bin, loaded it in crome fine.
erased chip at 8000 hex OK
verified blank at 80000 hex OK
loaded bin into willem software OK
burned program to chip at 8000 hex OK
verifyed the successful burn OK
read chip at 8000 hex OK
saved the read to bin OK
tried to load the bin into crome to verify it was identical NOT OK

any ideas what went wrong and why im unable to read a bin from the chip and load it into crome?

Thanks,
-Luke

i think it has something to do with the larger size of the chip. when i read the chip and save it as a bin its a 64k bin file. the original map was only 32k.

any idea how to make it only read the second half of the chip where i burned the map? i made sure to set the offset(Hex) to 8000

is it the chip with the window on top of it? if so they only burn with a willem they can only be erased with a certain type of light in the window. ive heard germ lights will erase them too.

Check http://www.pgmfi.org or http://www.homemadeturbo.com (maybe even xenocron.com) I believe you have to do some rigging to get the SSTs to play nice with the Willems.

I use the Moates Burn1... best bang for the buck.

might be the version software you are using.
For atmels i always used 97G software.
Heres a link for SST chips (using 97h software)

i have not run the car on the basemap yet but i mean the burner will write and erase the SST chips.

i just wanted to verify just for ***** and giggles that it was writing correctly.

also these are not UV erase chips, they are electically erased.

and i realize i would never need to pull the bin off the chip, i would still have it on my laptop to edit and reburn but i was just doing this for ***** and giggles

SOLVED THE ISSUE:

like i said before, the original crome map was 32k and the new bin read off the chip was 64k. i knew the chips supported dual maps so i was trying to find a way to just read the one map.

well instead i just took the 64k bin that i read off the chip and opened it in notepad. wallah, deleted the first half of the file which was all "y" characters. checked the size and it was now 32k. then opened the bin in crome perfectly! compared it to the original and it matched.

to be certain you are not deleting the first character of your real map, open the original bin with notepad and check what the first few characters are, then find it in your bin you read off the chip to verify the starting point of the map.

im sure this wont help anyone but good to know my burner and chips are working 100%
