Default Sst chip identification

Hello. Recently i've been tuning a few cars. A few days ago some guy wanted me to burn a map onto his chip so i told him to give me the chip. I noticed that his sst chip was a little different than mine. It had "sst mtp" written on it instead of just 'sst' as on my chips. My question is whether they are the same chips and whether i can burn a map onto the 'sst mtp' chip using moates chip burner? Looking for any helpful responses, thanks.

Most likely a clone or the newer style but inferior replacments that are available. High failure rate. I do not use them. If it takes the burn and verifies, tell the client you can't garantee how long it will work.

Thank you for the reply. I ended up giving him the map on my chip instead.

We have seen a lot of the "MTP" stamped chips coming through as well. These are a China and/or Taiwan clone of the SST chip. Most only accept a burn/program one time. If you try to overwrite the burn a second time it will usually not accept the burn.

Sorry I'm new to this whole do it yourself machine **** with hondas. So when you guys say burn. Are you talking tuning the chip? Or am I mistaking that term? Only curious cause I just looked at my ecu I got n it has the sst mpt chip in it.
