First and foremost, the reason I'm asking this question is b/c the way my manifold/wastegate is setup, the area on the wastegate that you hook the vacuum line to is pretty much "touching" the compressor housing of my turbo (it's not actually touching but there is definitely very little room) and I can't put the vacuum fitting on there to hook up the vacuum line.

My question is, if I loosen all the allen head bolts around the circumference of the wastegate (as if I'm going to swap out the spring) will I be able to rotate the entire polised piece around so the area that the vacuum fitting is easier accessed?

OK, here's my actual setup....notice the nice elbow that I have and would like to continue to use....I plan on making a dump to go from there to the driver's side of the front bumper...

if i understand you correctly, Yes. And pics would help.

Edit: now that i think about it iirc on a 38mm gate that port your referring too is on the lower half of the polished piece and im not sure if you can rotate that thing or not, i wanna say no, but you might be able to if you completely disassemble it. can you post a pic of your actual setup? there may be a way you can still hook it up with different fittings etc...

No, you won't, the lower part of that wastegate should not be able to turn.

Not sure if it will turn but it would be easy to plug the hole and just tap another one in a different spot.

why not just turn the wastegate 180 and run the dumptube on the other sided?

Definitely not enough clearance for 1.5" piping....

I'm just trying to avoid making another elbow...

Will a different fitting work? Like a straight fitting or something like that?

Naw, there isn't but like 2 crab infested [pejorative] hairs work of space between the compressor housing and the wastegate...

HaHaHa, I just now noticed that I didn't put the ground back on the valve cover from when I put a new cam seal in it on Sunday! HAHAHA

As long as you can fit a silicone hose in there you'll be ok, the compressor side really doesn't get *that* hot.

if you take the top of the wastegate off, pull the spring out, loosen the set screw, and loosen the nut, you can twist the bottom part of the gate so you can position the fitting where you want it to be.

did it today on a gate actually.

Guess I'll try that this weekend...

It just doesn't make sense to me that the bottom "MUST" be in a fixed position.
