Default Thinking of boosting: 138k old internals?

I've given some thought to boosting my Z6 (probably with the GReddy/Trust kit). The only problem is that my car, as it is right now, has 138k miles on the original engine. I know I haven't abused it, but i'm also the third owner. Should I be worried about boosting 6-7psi on these internals? Or should I upgrade them first?

For what it's worth, my "goal" is at least 200HP at the wheels. Might need more than 6-7psi for that though.

BOOST IS IRRELAVENT!!! Horsepower breaks components.....7 PSI on a huge turbo is going to produce a lot more HP then 7PSI on a little T25.

Do a leak down and compression test on your motor (search if you don't know what it is). If the numbers turn out OK do your research because you can boost away

do it! like he said check compression and as long as your not buring any oil go ahead. even if it blows up a new z6 longblock is fairly cheap

One hit of the boost and sacrificing the life of an old *** high mileage Z6 will be well worth it.

I have 130,000 on my Z6, still runs great. Just don't abuse it. Be smart.

I got 102K on mine (D16Z6) ... and I'm about to put that GReddy kit as well .. Well, with that one to put down about 200 HP you'll need about 10psi boost .. but go for it, if you break it by mistake - well, it's not so expensive anyway

Thanks for the replies, ya'll. Makes me feel a hell of a lot better about the possibility of boost . I was thinking of putting a B18B in and then boosting...but I have bills and such to pay. Maybe later on down the road

my setup made 200 @8psi on a T3/T4 .48ar so the turbo size is going to play a big part.

on the other hand, if it was abused by a previous owner it might be holding on by a thread as is and boost will be the end for that sohc.

At least thats what happened to my b16 @ only 36k miles. Oh well one call to earl and a couple weeks of eating rock soup and it was all better

I had 220k on my old motor and I sprayed the **** out of it at the track and it held up fine, I did something stupid to it and blew it but I think that motor would be fine today if I didnt get careless..

Kerr come on now....if you put the money into turboing your car why not beat the **** out of it. Thats the fun in it all....not eveyone wants to ***** foot around with their car like you. I guess you do cause its your daily driver but still. I blew my car up, I'll re-build it and turbo it and probalby blow it again....i dont care thats why i do it to beat the **** out of it. Like i said thats the fun in it all, you dont build a turboed car to drive it normally....Just my opinion though
