Should i boost my engine???
i currently have a d15b7 with over 250k miles(speedo doesnt work lol) im getting a complete d-series turbo setup for 400 from a good friend. should i even boost my b7 with the amount of miles its got? it runs good but leaks a little oil. i want to make shure the turbo kit works and i want to get use to a boosted car. if i did it would be like 6-8 lbs.
any ideas would be very helpful. i am also doing an eagle vitara setup on my z6 that im building.

don't go into it blind man. google compression test as a start. if you don't know what that's about you may be getting in over you head trying to turbo your car. if you know about compression tests google leakdown test. the leakdown will definitely tell you if all is well in your motor. depending on the turbo kit you got you may need engine mods (stronger rods, pistons, headgasket, headstuds, etc) to even think about it. tons of info on these forums. you should start a build thread and give people some details about what you plan to do and ask for some opinions. if you got a stage 3 kit for $400 (doubtfull) you will definitely blow your motor without beefed internals. even if you got something moderate you will need more fuel/engine management to keep your motor working. research, research, research.

He didn't even say what kind of kit he got. I got a complete kit with a greddy ic for $400, so it's possible.
If you can afford a blown motor, then turbo away. But you may not blow the motor, those dseries are tough motors

I'm going to boost my 150k mile y8 soon, all I need is to find a 15g greddy turbo.
The d15 rods are toothpicks but from what I've read, it's all in the tune

Re: Should i boost my engine???
well i dont have a clue what exactly a stage is but its a t3/t4 turbo(i think he said its .46),ram style manifold, no clue on the wastegate but it does have a 10lb spring, dont know what brand bov but i know both are name brand. the intercooler would take up the center grill on my bumper, the downpipe is 3 inches. he also is including 450cc injectors. its has oil lines and stuff but thats kinda obvious.

its not a kit from like ebay. its just a complete turbo setup that my buddie tyler ran on his z6 crx. than my friend robert got it and he said he would sell it to me for 400 bucks. i was already gathering parts for my turbo build. but he has the whole setup.
