stock sleeve built b16 how much boost??
I'm getting my b16 tuned real soon and i'm undecided on how much boost i wanna run..I put down 262hp and 176tq on 8psi on my stock motor..
Right now the motor has 9:1 weisco pistons, big arp rod bolts, eagle rods, cometic headgasket, supertech .5mm oversized valves, springs and retainers with gsr cams and a valve job..
The turbo setup is garrett t3 60trim w/63ar, blox manifold, spoolin dp and dump, tial 38mm, jrc 8" IC, 2.5" IC piping, RC 550's, walboro 255..
I got it tuned on a 8 psi sorta like a basemap not much tuning but it put down 220hp but i've recently upgraded to a 3inch exhaust and it was noticable..
I have a 14.5psi spring and a 15.95 psi spring just not sure which 1 to run yet..
My goal is 300hp reliable because its a daily driver but i should be able to rev to 9500 if the GSR cams keep making power..
Which would you guys run??
I got on it this morning though for about the 4th-5th time since it was built and banged the rev limiter in 1st at 8k it was set low and my buddy said he saw almost a flame but it looked like blue smoke when changing gears is this normal??
The stock motor smoked but it was white when letting off the gas.. smoke in genearl just sketches me especially since i got 3500 in this motor....

If its any conselation I run 16 psi on my motor with a set up very similar to your minus the cams and head work. I also run a T3/T4 57 trim though.
I would push that turbo you have to around 16-18 psi.
Just my input.

The smoke you are seeing between shifts could be a bit of a result of running a basemap of sorts still and not doing a lot of street tuning on the car.
As far as boost, it's not boost that will break a sleeve, it's horsepower and tuning. If you get a good safe tune on it, then you could see 300 whp all day long and never even need to worry about it. There are quite a few people out there making 400 on stock sleeves with consevative timing and larger turbos with no problems.
When you say T3 60 trim though, are you referring to a T3 super 60 (straight T3) or a T3/T4 60 trim? If you are referring to the latter, it is a bit small to be making that much power.

Re: (Jay_Sensing)
stock sleeves can take well over 20psi and upto 25psi if your tunner is good. I have seen it done first hand many of times...... but this also depends on the motor and how well it has been takin care of

Re: (BoostedEG6)
The motor was just built..
I believe my turbo is a garrett t3 60 trim w/63ar its pretty big i was told running 8psi its not even in its effciency yet..
I know of 2 people with 9:1 compression and the same turbo.. 1 on a stock b16 with the headgasket that lowers compression he made 287hp and 201tq on 13lbs
And another a stock GSR with the same headgasket and my same turbo he made 308hp..
I'm thinking the 1 bar spring 14.5psi will get me to 300hp especially if those GSR cams don't fall off and i can rev to 9500, but i also got the 15.95psi setup and i'm thinking greedy..

My motor has run up to 22psi on the same basic setup with no problems, thats on an sc61 too. Its not really about boost its about hp/cylinder pressure. That motor should be good/safe at anything under 500whp give or take a few.

Re: (beaver)
YEAH I WAS TOLD ABOUT 400 HP was the limit..
I'm looking for about 310-320 reliably..
i'm thinking about useing the 1 bar spring first and see what it puts down then step up to the 1.1 bar spring if needed..
