yah, we all know how reliable axles are on h22 swaps

I put 5k miles on my stock ones, seemed to work just fine, and the car was dumped. I figure get a set of Gator S3's and be good for quite a long time. PLUS, the wheels in the back are never going to turn, so a little angle is probably just fine.
I will be using stock idler arms(steering things for the simpletons), with Heim joints and a custom tie rod to join the two.
Not sure how long its going to be, I need to sit down and actually do some math on it to find the best location. Basically, Ill be mimicing the front suspension as closely as possible, because we all know how well that works.
The reason I am even bothering is because Ive driven one high power FWD car before, and I was utterly dissappointed. Ya, its cool doing a burnout at 80mph, but jesus christ, youre getting smoked by a stock Cobra at that speed. Hit boost...modulate the hell out of the throttle, and you finally hook up when youre above 80 mph. I want to dump the clutch at 5-6k rpm, take off, and NOT spin at all if I can help it. 345/35/15s will help with this, thats why Im going as large as I am, I HATE spinning my wheels...

Yep, and yes it is. Should be similar to the Jimfabs/z10 styles, except w/out the crossmember in the front. The Heim joints will be fastened right to the body of the car, after I find the best placement for them, etc. The cool thing is, I can go STRAIGHT off the LCA w/them because I dont have to worry about turning radius, so it should work even better.

If it isnt installed on the car yet, it isnt covered. All these lil insights help me during the process..."Hmm...2.2Lcivic said this will happen if I do this. Should I try it? Ya, I can always cut it out of it doesnt work."
Stuff like that

Got the passenger side UCA/strut mount all finished up over lunch today. Think itll be strong enough? Honestly....

Im going to run a bunch of X braces along the upper and lower frame members, along with 2 X braces from left to right side. I DONT want any flex if possible in this thing...

I wouldnt say full travel, the chassis will bottom out b4 the suspention will.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by TREVER »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Looks good, why square tube?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Because I have 144 feet of it laying here(got it ALL for $40 last summer in a warehouse clearance), and I see NO sense in ordering up round tube to take up more space. Im still undecided if I want to use round in the passenger compartment for the cage.
From what people are telling me, I wont get to run the 1/4 if I use square tubing for a cage. I might just bite the bullet and get 40ft of 1.5" round tubing. Ill still use square for the front end, because it was REALLY easy to work with(no notching and ****).
Well, I set the rear wheels on some blocks, crossed my fingers, and let the jack down. It sits ALOT higher than I anticipated. Im assuming because there isnt really any REAL weight(its an empty engine/trans), but I think I didnt put the UCA/strut mount high enough to set the body as low as I wanted it to. Its good, because the chassis wont bottom as easily, and when you have a coil thats half as short with a stock setup, the coil just flops there when there isnt any load. Now, the coil is under tension the entire time, so no worries about them falling off the perch.
Its bad because I wanted it to be slammed. Overall, Id say its right where it used to be w/the lowering springs that were on there before(and are on there now).
After I get adj. coilovers for all 4 corners, it should be easy to dial in the correct height.

Lol, I just walked outside from being in the shop since 4pm, and the Peon is COMPLETELY burried. Only vids youll see is of me rolling out the door, and dissappearing into a snow bank taller than the car.
Plus, I dont have a working engine yet either. Jen(my gf) owes me a sleeve job and some rods, so as soon as she coughs up the $, Ill have a running RWD del sol

Ill prolly leave them. softer in the back for killer launches. Now I WANT weight to transfer backwards, over the drive wheels
