Default Question on oil pan and fitting.

it seems that the only way to tap my oil pan would be to put the fitting in the shallow end of the pan. Is that ok to put it there? I took the oil pan off and cleaned it out and put 3 1/2 quarts of water in it to see where the oil level was and it's above. The second question is that I have to use a brass barb fitting in order for the line to fit. Is there any other way other than using hondabond or JB weld to attach the fitting to the pan?(Aluminum pan)

H22 pans can be Aluminum.

I have never seen an aluminum barbed fitting but with the aluminum pans there is enough material that you could drill and tap for the 1/2" pipe threads and then braze it. That would be strong a hell. or you could just drill and tap and install with JB weld to seal it. I'm sure that would work fine if that part of the pan is thick enough. And yes you can put it in the shallow end with no problems.

yeah I have never seen an Aluminum barb fitting either. The pan is from an 02 ex. I have been hearing from some people that I can braze it on but no one has confirmed it yet.

the newer h22 pans are aluminum, i wouldn't use jb weld on the oil pan, you can just braze or weld it
