Pushing the 18G
I'm currently going into the process of rebuilding my engine and I was wondering what kind of power I can expect.
3 years ago I made 238 whp @ 7psi on a stock B16A2.
Here is the "new" setup:
B16A2
Stock sleeves
CP Pistons 9.0:1 81.5mm
Eagle rods
ACL Bearings
ARP Head Studs
OEM Head Gasket
GSR cams
RC 550cc injectors
Walbro 255lph
2.5" Downpipe
3.0" Exhaust
Spearco intercooler
2.5" intercooler piping.
Tune with Chrome Pro.
Do you think I can get 300whp on pump gas?

ATP Turbo sells a nice Vband adaptor for T25-flanged turbos

Is this the v band adaptor that'll fit he 18g turbo?

yes sir. About a week later i bought the adapter for my 18g, its really nice, not to mention that once you have the full 3in, the 18g see's full boost really fast, about 400rpm's sooner, if not faster.
Just remember to get all you v-band clamps etc, it gets a little pricey

any other suggestions

That housing is different than the one used for the 18G. The one from Greddy is a Mitsu/garrett hybrid that uses a T2 flange inlet for the greddy. The Bullseye is a DSM 8cm sq -based turbine housing. It will not fit.

Bringing this thread back becuase I'm getting into the turbo game. I just picked up an 18G greddy kit from my boy.
My setup consists of a...
b16a head
mild port and polish
3 angle valve job
01 ITR cams
skunk2 cam gears
skunk2 valve springs
skunk2 titanium retainers
b18b(GE sleeved and bored to 84mm)
Arias 9.2:1 pistons
Eagle h-beam rods
ACL bearings kit
ARP head studs
OEM ITR water pump
OEM ITR oil pump
OEM LS headgasket
RC 550cc injectors
Precision intercooler
2.5" intercooler piping
2.5" downpipe
3" exhaust
Hondata s200 w/boost
Pump gas
Would it be possible to hit 350+ whp?

Wow with a setup like that putting an 18g on there is alomst the biggest waste of time..........ever.
Get a quality equal length manifold and a gt35R and make some real power. Unless its a daily driver and you want quick spool, but still i then would suggest like a 30R.
For the origional question if you plan on using the 18G yes you should make over 350whp, the turbo is actually a little under rated.
and because i havent updated this thread in a long time i will post this

and to the person that said the 18G is T2.

Believe me, your dead wrong........

Actually, your picture proved me quite correct. That is a T2 setup on the manifold. Had a Greddy Kit back in 1999, and they are still the same inlet system since then. Thanks for showing that!!

are you talking about the exhaust housing or the manifold itself, because the exhaust housing has a t-25/t-28 style exhaust flange, which is made by Garrett
What i used, straight from ATP turbo
"The V-Band Adapter for the GT25/28
High Flowing 3.00" V-Band discharge module is now available for the GT25R, GT28R, GT28RS, GT2871R, GT3071R-WG, GT3076R-WG."

I know it seems like a waste with this but I figured since I'm entering the turbo scene and I picked up this Greddy 18G kit for $1000 along with some of the goodies listed, I want to give it a start then I would go for my bigger plans later like a GT35R like you mentioned. I just wanted to know what you guys thought of in terms of numbers and potential.

Some internally-gated turbochargers can be clocked slightly depending upon how the wastegate bracket is fitted. If the internal gate itself needs to be relocated, only if you have a swivel/lock arm can that be done.
Urbansi: I was refering to turbine inlet design of T2.

Ah i see.
DC4lsv- you should be able to make well over 300whp with an 18G expecially with your setup. It will be nice on the street as far as power band and tourque but with your setup having so much potential its just such a waste. Oh well good luck with your build, and post some pictures when you have it all done.

I have a question. Has anyone used a JG/Edelbrock I/M with the 18g?
I heard the 18g does not push enough air to see any gains from it and that you might lose some power with it. Is this true? Kinda going for 350whp and already own the manifold
