Use a good wastegate actuator or add a spring between the flapper arm and the actuator bracket to help hold it closed.

Mine holds 16psi rock solid...can't manage to get it over that though. I can crank the **** on my profec all the way up and it doesn't change the slightest bit.

I'm externally gated now though...just gotta put the car back together.

not to be an idiot on our quest to the most power poss. from an 18g but i thought someone posted something about a better actuator in here, and i cant seem to find it.

we got a rock solid 15lbs. out of our 2.2 w./18g on friday night, and it was totally uncontrollable until 4th gear (time for an lsd poss...) o and we love the profec b spec 2!

I will be selling mine over winter if anyone wants a set up. all you will need is a OBD1 ECU, fuel pump, and injectors. it will come with the greddy kit, 2.5" DP with 2.5" gutted cat in the DP, and Hondata 3B

Forge motorsports makes a nice actuator.

I had problems with my wastegate blowing open @ high exhaust manifold pressures hence the need for a stronger actuator/more spring rate.

all of this talk about greddy makes me wish i never sold it. That thing never gave me trouble on 6 psi.(other then the wastegate) as soon as I threw a t3t4 it started breaking stuff.

Nice setup, but I was looking at one of your threads from 9/6/05, and it said, among other things that your setup included:

"HKS manifold, Garrett GT2871R turbo w/ 3 inch vband downpipe..."

So what's your setup then?

I'm running a stock ls block with gs-r head and manage to pull 261 at 12lbs of boost. I'm using the stock elbow, dp, and 2.5" catback. I'm hoping to upgrade to a 3" and pick up some hp. the only problem i'm having right now is bogging between shift. Has anyone else have this problem. It seem to bog down then goes between every shift. I'm haven't gotton a chance to datalog yet to see why, but wanted to see if anyone else has this problem. I'm starting to think that my jg manifold is too big for my setup and is the culprit.

i took my actuator to turbochargers.com and they sent it out to a company in cali and they basically repaired my crappy actuator. you could try them or maybe if you call them they'll tell you the name of the company they send it out to.

Looks internal to me. YES...the 18G is internal wastegate. But some people are porting it out and getting an external wastegate in its place.

Porting and going externally 'gated are 2 totally different things. Hey, those are my legs!
