I am assuming I would need new pistons however due to the low CR?
butt dyno for me was good...feels like a small v6 imo in my sedan. ear dyno is orgasmic

ok so I might be buying a bunch of BNIB parts from someone but its setup is 8.5:1 compression ratio.. i know someone mentioned to me last page that 10.5:1 would be best, but is 8.5 gonna be too low?

by the way heres all the parts... the seller wants $1600 for everything.. good deal?
D16z6 block
D16ZC head

Cometic gasket kit (with head gasket)bnib
CP pistons, .20 over BNIB
Eagle rods BNIB
Clevite. Rod bearings, thrust washers, crank bearing. BNIB
Supertech block guard BNIB
Polished bran new oil pump. OEM
ARP head studs BNIB
MSD Ignition with external coil.
AEM fuel rail BNIB

if you actually made the effort to research, you would find THOUSANDS of turbo civics that run between 6.9 and 8:1 compression.

your motor will run even on 5:1. it would be sluggish as hell out of boost, but it would run. would probably REQUIRE an SI tranny to keep it able to move the car to highway speed though

yeah i know it'll run... and i know turbo engines are run with a much lower ratio as well... the difference is that you can make the boost on a turbo push upwards of 20psi if you want so a lower compression ratio is ideal to avoid detonation... with the JRSC i can realistically make only 10 psi or so i was thinking all an 8.5:1 ratio would do would make me loose potential hp.

Absolutely

Better off skipping the deal, unless its worth changing pistons.

Yeah you certainly can, probably get yourself a whole point with the block and head depending on the compression height of the pistons. Decking the head is an option as well, either has the same effect of retarding the cam timing slightly.

Sell off the fuel rail/MSD/block guard or try to negotiating a deal without those parts.

My Z6 build will be using a 10.5:1 CR. I've come across 3 builds like this on various forums and they have nothing but good results. CP makes a 10.5:1 piston for the Z6. I was going to originally go with the a Vitara build, but found that FJ distributors now only sells in a group buy type approach. They buys are about 7-8 weeks apart.

On another note, is there any kevlar belt that we can use for the JRSC? I'm getting 3 of the standard JR belts, but I would really like to have something stronger and more resistant to stretching.

Gates make some "performance" ribbed belts, I couldn't find any that fit for me.

Anyone parting out a sohc kit or have any spares? I need the pieces that go from the charger to the throttle body

yeah belts where an issue with me too im going to use a cnc machine to make a 4 rib (like stock crank) pulley thats a little smaller so i can have an easier time finding replacements.. i have more boost... and it will be more reliable.. i still need to find the ideal diameter tho.

another solution that worked for me was buying a 6 rib belt in the diameter that i needed and cut it down the middle with a new razor blade... you can find them at any autoparts store whereas the 3 rib JR belts are special order

my pulley is sitting on my JRSC about 3 hrs away buried under like 4ft of snow haha im not feeling too excited about getting it off...do you happen to have yours within measuring distance??

I'm having problems with setting up the supercharger on ZC. We don't know what year it's from. We tried it on a 96 motor and the snout pulley doesn't line up straight with the other pulleys. We tried a 88-91 and it also doesn't line up straight.

It basically looks like we need a longer snout pulley? Is their a different type of SOHC supercharger or should they all be the same?

It came off a 96 EK SOHC. Trying to install it in a SOHC ZC civic but I have two spare motors laying around and I tried it on a 96 SOHC EK motor and it doesn't line up straight. Tried it on a 91 SOHC and still doesn't line up.

I'll get a picture of it soon to get an idea of what's going on. Also is the JRSC instructions/installation manual available online by any chance?

The 96+ SOHC supercharger manifold is offset toward the passenger side to allow for better clearance with the shock tower. It can be used if it's used with the correct 96+ crank pulley and alternator bracket.

Hope that helps.

id like one too mine shattered and flew out from under my car on the highway!! but i think the crank pulley is the same regardless of psi.... its the snout pulley that you change for increased boost.

i need to know what diameter the 10psi pulley is because im going to CNC machine one.. most likely i will upgrade it to a 4-rib and put some sort of belt retaining edge on the outside. I will be making a recess in my shock tower for it as well.... anyone know how much clearance i have between the shock and the shock tower?

i wish this thread had more constant discussions and frequent visitors.. there are a lot of issues to talk about and there is so little information available. I would also love to see some more pictures and videos of peoples setups!

here's a short vid of mine

Incorrect. You can either upgrade the crank pulley and/or decrease the blower pulley for more boost.

I have the upgraded JRSC crank pulley. It measures 6.75" inches. If someone wants to take a look at it...

On another note, I'd love a 4 rib Y series setup, if it were only possible. Stupid shock tower.

wow now i noticed sleepdude replaced the snout supercharger pulley with a 4rib and it offset it so it would line up https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...g#post28380339 does anyone have a pulley for supercharger or know where to get one?
